I had (have the same problem) contacted unichip and we are working on it. If i changed from map A to map B the truck ran fine. So after calling and bitching about it we decided to test in map b to see if the problem still exists. And low and behold it did and had to switch back to map a. I first hade the problem in the middle of a snow storm on a trip out of town. FN sux thought we were going to be stranded. The second time I was abel to get a code. Map high flow! WTF?? so waiting for Unichip to open up after the holidays and let them know. Hopefully I get this fixed could be a safety hazzard.

The third time it did it to me I was en route to my house down a rural road returning from out of town. Limped it into a closed service station, crawled under the hood, disconnected the battery, and took out the tuner. I have not had a problem for almost a month now. The truck runs better than it ever did with the tuner. It gets almost 3 mpg more than with the tuner in either A or B mode. And I found out how to install my factory harness without the little levers on the tightening clamps on the harness (since they broke due to the tight constraints). Rut

Re: Unichip Tuner
Well I was driving to grab lunch this afternoon and the truck quit on me. Luckily on a small back road with no one around. WTF! The truck started right up so I didn't think anything of it. It would have been really dangerous if I were on the highway as I lost power stearing and brakes.
Was getting ready to leave work and the truck wouldn't start. Just a bunch of warning lights blinking. Disconnected the battery and first thing I went for was to take off the Unichip and wiring harness off of the truck. Took me over an hour to get take off the wiring harness and reinstall the two plugs into the the ECU. What a pain in the *** the bottom plug is to get off and back on again. Would have really sucked if I wasn't at work and didn't have access to tools.
Got everything back together (without Unichip) and truck started right up. Something is either screwed up with the Unichip wiring harness or the connections to ECU were loose. Problem is that the OEM wiring loom is so short and it is a pain in the *** to connect everything. I am going to leave off the Unichip for now as have to take it to the dealer for regular service.
Just dissapointed. I liked the Unichip as it feels like it gave me more power. Plan on calling them to try and figure things out. Just so hard to install and unistall. Feel like I am going to break something in the process.
That's my rant!!

What a pain. As I stated when I first got the tuner... it would have been nice to have made the wiring on the tuner a bit longer for an easier mounting task. Was just as much a pain to take out as it was to install. But, hey, live and learn. I think I will just leave it out and keep my better gas mileage, better performance, and, all things being equal, and a dependably running truck.
Well after driving almost a week without the chip...I hate it and can tell a decrease in power. I hope I can get my issue resolved. My chip is still off as I haven't had time to mess with it yet or contact Unichip due the holidays.
Mine did the same thing one day when it was raining.. Found that unichip module was getting water on the connections. I dried it off and remounted it on the inside fender with connectors down worked fine again.
Can you take a pic? Just curious to see how you have it mounted. It doesn't seem like there r many options since the wiring loom is so short
I spoke with Unichip and they were aware of the problem that I was having with the truck dying. They said that most likely an internal failure of the chip. Most likely due to where I live (Phila), the chip being mounted in the engine bay, and drastic changes in air temps. They told me to ship back the unit and will replace it. Was happy to hear that they will take care of it
hi guy's. i wanted to let you all know this.
after a very long time to find a custom tuner.
i finally found 1. now with that said.
the shop ANCLA INC-UNICHIP
tuner guy's told me this, unichip is in calf.
and it is tuned for calf.
and is a sort of cookie cutter style, &
they hope it will work where ever you live.
my shop whom i will use said,
that they are going to custom tune it for florida conditions.
now i have zero issue's.
i just think due to my dyno sheet,2005 4.7 VVTI
that is posted here, that i can do much better, in the:
HP & TORQUE power.
so maybe there is some truth in wher you live, & how it was set up.
what i would do is find a custom tuner shop.
yes, it will cost you more money, that we all don't have,
but if it work's, than problem solved.
i remember many wanted more mpg, not HP.
well i think you might not be able to have both.
and in that is the problem.

I just bought my Tundra in Dec. of 08. I do alot of towing in my line of work, and I was thinking about adding a chip and a CAI to gain horsepower and torque. I dont care about the rore of the truck I'd rather keep it quite, but I am wanting to get the most out of my truck for towing purposes. What chip and CAI systems do you guys prefer. Thanks!

humm I saw them install the chip on trucks today. I got me thinking. But now I see there is some problems with it. Do you guys think its worth the hefty price tag($778)
