Yeah, I recieved the email today also. I have had no issues with my Unichip (of course I live in NW-FL, so no real cold weather problem here)and I really like the 93 octane setting. Hopefully soon, I will get the custom tune for the 93 octane map at a local shop, I'll keep yall updated!
The rate of change in temperature is as potentially damaging as the absolute temperature itself, assuming the absolute temperature does not violate the temperature spec of the board. If you change temperature of a circuit board too quickly, it causes stress in both the circuit board and the electronic components on the board because stuff gets expanding and contracting too quickly and can cause damage. This is "thermal shock".

B S & E: I think you may be an engineer..."undercover"...B
so its pointless pretty much!! you can't just plug n' play and just go driving?...you have to get it tuned..waste of my time and money..
You can plug and play and leave it at that, but you'll only get about half the power from it. Pay for a tune and you'll get all the power (the tune is cheap compared to the chip).

I understand the frustration of buying a performance mod and then not having it work properly.....unfortunately they are not a small minority. As for tuning, however, it is almost mandatory to have some means to do this yourself once the mods go beyond a muffler or air filter IMO. The trouble is, hardly anything out there for us right now, and what is there is unproven and expensive.
okay I get what you saying..if you only plug n play and I have full Corsa exhaust system, Headers and Volant I'll still only make half of the power without custom tune..

yeah, and i dont care what that other dude is claiming with his CPU reflash deal, I doubt he'll get much more if any gains compared to the Unichip. Plus the Unichip is untraceable. Being that no 2 tundras are a like (as previously stated once or twice) any tuner you go with, as more become available, is gonna need a custom tune. No cookie cutter mail tune is gonna be perfect on our trucks.

Cookie cutter tunes don't work for most. Don't buy it without expecting to get a custom tune
