Here's another first hand account of increases seen first hand using the Unichip form member thobbz@hotmail.com.
"I can vouch for Gorilla since I did the chip on my 2005 Tundra and had it Dyno tuned for my dual exhaust and cold air intake. The dyno results were a 30 horsey increase when using a 91 octane fuel. The mech told me it would be more if he tuned the alternate switch to 100 octane fuel. After I get my headers installed I am going to get another Dyno tune done for the 100 octane. The truck is more responsive and I can feel a difference in the HP. It cost me a total of 950.00 for parts, labor, and dyno tune out the door. I do not have specs on my fuel economy yet, but I am happy with the increased horseys so far."

The 2005 Tundra did not have a 5.7L.

The post was intended to show possible gains with a Unichip over stock. The gains on the 5.7 will most likely be more impressive. They are also producing one for the 07 4.7 guys.

If they post a bunch of hard data to look through I will join the group buy. I will be happy to see a few Dyno charts for stock and chipped, and then a few examples of Intake/stock exh, stock intake/after exh, after market on both. I don't need to see every map combo out there with TRD, VOLANT, AFE, FLOWMASTER, JBA ect, I just want to see ONE example of any combo so I can get a decent idea of actual product merit.
I understand that there are a few happy customers out there, thats fine but for 600-780, I would need to look at some real data that they generated and stand behind. THe way I see it: 50x$600.00 is $30,000 in total, they can give Nola some charts on the tundra for a 30,000 sale.
I would be blown away if they can increase MPG enough to ever pay for the part, but I have been blown away before. (When I first floored a 5.7 tundra)
It sounds like a good product, I will pick it up if they come through in the next week or two with some hard data to look at. I have been waiting to get an exhaust until they came up with a good tuner to get some hps out of it.

Times pulled out zero, I am afraid I may need to bend down to reach a towhook to get pulled.... thanks cardata video, you helped me dodge a bullet.
I agree to a point. But if you know your truck (which I do know mine) I could guesstimate the approx gain. In the 1/8 mile my truck runs a solid 9.1 at 95 mph. I don't care what they do, they can not cover everyone's truck as far as what numbers they will actually put down. But they could post the dyno numbers as well as the track numbers on the test vehicles and what mods have been done. They fact they don't post this, makes me very suspicious of the product and it's performance. They need to post the data if they are charging twice the amount of money for the domestic programmers and a piggy back system at that. It's just good business.
Your truck runs a 9.1 @ 95mph in the 1/8?
Has to be a typo with the mph lol....

I know many are waiting for dyno's. Trust me, they are coming soon, but here is some additional info from Unichip.
We’ll release some official numbers in the next week or so. On the dyno side, the issue isn’t making the power but trying to prevent the transmission from downshifting during the dyno pulls and messing up the numbers. Whatever claims may surface, nobody will make more power. There only variables for making power are (1) compression, (2) timing, and (3) fuel. Since the Tundra is normally aspirated, the first is fixed and we can set the other two where ever we want. The truck is pretty rich so I think we’ll see some nice numbers once they’re ready for release.
By way of preliminary numbers, a bone-stock truck is 0.3 seconds quicker from 0-60 with the Unichip. Our fuel testing numbers work out to ~ 15% when towing 4,000 lbs at 65 mph with the cruise control on. If you’re on and off the gas, in and out of traffic, you’ll be more down in the 8-10% improvement range.
Jack
I'm telling you guy's, once the numbers are officially released, you won't be disappointed

The 15% towing mpg increase stated above is also bone stock. I'm not sure what towing mpg's are, but assuming 16 mpg, that would be a 2.5 or so mpg increase. With cai and exhaust, maybe 3.5-4 mpg. Non towing numbers would be even better. Toyo has this truck running hog rich. It will make some impressive power once tuned.

yea I just bought a 2.5 lift for my truck, Im going to have to wait till they fix the down shifting problem and show some numbers before I spend that much.

I agree... I really want a tuner, but I need to know what it is really doing, especially if it is over 4 bills. I think the trans shift points is a big improvement area for these trucks. More power is always great, but I would be pretty darn happy if I could better and more efficiently use the power my truck already has... By the way.... give me my popcorn back
i think it might be adventageous to wait and see if unichip is able to come out with maps for tundras that have intakes and exhaust. i think most tundra owners have invested in some type of intake and exhaust unit, therefore, it would be one of the most popular maps to order. i would also like to see if they will be able to remove the speed limiter as NOLA said they are working on. when this is done the package should be damn good since it will allow for even more power. 115 comes up pretty fast sometimes when u are on long stretches of interstate 5 (lol).
maybe they will address why the engine bogs after shifting into second gear and does not tac higher and faster after shifts(obvioulsly the torque management is still very prevelant). i think these engines still have more power that can be tapped out if they can release more torque management, then the truck will be even quicker without being supercharged.
im on standby to see what unichip does for the next batch of units (that i hope they will release soon covering the above listed parameters). if they cover these items then its a no brainer, because im sure the truck would be much quicker at all levels.
