ok...i hope this can benefit some one else on here. I have an 07 DC SR5 with leather and all the goodies except somehow it didnt get the defrost mirrors, thus i didnt have the correct wiring harness for an easy tow mirror swap. (I only had 3 wires going into my plugs). For those of you wanting to add tow mirrors or perhaps already have added and lights dont work, then please review this.
I traded mirrors with another TS member "colb4130" - (PS thanks) his towing mirrors for my non heated SR5 mirrors.
I am not going to go into the details on door panel removal, etc.. as thats been discussed and posted many times and would be redundant.
first thing after door panels are off is to also take out the factory (really cheaply made i might add) speaker. 4 screws and unplug it. set it in safe spot. work the rubber boot that goes from the door jam loose. it pulls out from door and pulls away from cab partially, allowing u access to run a wire or fishtape as in my case, through the cab into the door.
This pic shows the boot pulled away to make it easier to run through (if you stretch the boot and make it a straight line its much easier to force the wire/fish tape through.
heres another pic showing what the fish tape end looks like where it came through...
now take three wires, i chose yellow, red and black. i used the yellow for turn signals, red for running lamp and black for ground.
i make a habit when doing multiple wires to do the old stick the end of them in a drill and hold the other and run it slowly to twist them into one wire thats easier to deal with.
once i had my wire, i put it in the end of the fishtape and pulled it through the boot into the cab. it comes out inside the cab where the factory wiring harnesses are, which is behind the kick panels which you need to remove, its easy, little plastic nut and some clips. even owners manual tells you how to do it to add the factory pigtail for trailer wires....both sides are the same.

once inside, theres a big rubber grommet on both sides of the truck on the firewall to run wires into the engine compartment. run the wires up through that rubber grommet. i pushed a screwdriver through from the engine side into the cab to make the hole then shoved my trusty fistape back through and pulled the wires through and once covered in wire loom it looks like this....
then i ran the 3 wires in that plastic loom down the inside of the fender on top of the fenderwell with the factory wiring and simply used the quick tap things to tap into the factory park/turn signal wires on the factory parking lights. just remove the bulb so you have room and seperate the wires, probe them to determine which is which with a test light and connect. i put the bulb back in and neatened it all up. once the red and yellow are connected to the running/parking lamp and turn signal wires, connect the black one with a ring terminal to an existing ground or just shoot a self tapping screw into it someplace to ground it out of the way and neatly.
now back to the inside.
take that twisted wiring we just ran into the door up through the rubber grommet with the speaker wires and zip tie it alongside the OEM wiring for the power mirrors up to the doors sail panel where the mirror bolts on and plugs in.
now you can move to the other side.
note some of these pics are from one side, some are from the other but the process is the same from side to side, i just kept forgetting to take pics to post. theres a large rubber grommet on both sides so both are done exactly the same way.
now, take your tow mirror and pull the rubber
liner off from around the bolt studs and harness plug...it just pops on and off. you'll have to cut a zip tie on the backside and probally make a slit to get it to come off and get the white plug through it but you want the rubber part off so you can access the harness on the mirror. sorry no detailed pic of just that ( i forgot again).
once you have access to the wires, look at the plug...it has two rows of wires, one row with two black, one brown, one green and it then skips to the end and has one thats blue. the two black ones are for the defrost, which probally wont be needed if you are having to wire your truck for these lights as its probally not wired for that either. but the next wires are as follows:
brown wire in the 3rd slot from the left if looking at the back of the plug is
ground for both turn and running light. next to it is the
green wire - that is the
positive wire for the
turn signal. the wire thats all the way at the end of that row is the
blue wire that is for the
running/parking lamp in the mirror. once again i just tapped into these wires with the quick tap things
and ran wires off each tap so i could run them into the truck and connect them once installed. you can see which wire goes to which here. also you can see that rubber insulator thing i was talking about earlier, its laying on my workbench in front of the mirror...
now that you have the short wires connected to the mirror, put the rubber insulator back in place (with the wire taps taped up for added protection) back inside that hollow area of the mirror base and pull the white plug back through where it was before we took it apart.
now bolt the mirror back up to the truck, making sure to pull the new wires through the rectangular hole where the factory plug comes in... once in it should look something like this...
the straight wires are the ones from my mirror and the twisted ones are the ones we ran up through the door earlier...
simply connect these wires to the matching wires however you chose. i used crimp on connectors but you may want to use quick connects in case you need to remove the mirror later or even make a small wiring harness to plug it into. you could also go so far as to get the metal female pins for the inside of that factory mirror plug and just add the wires you need into the OEM plug so its a true plug and play but i didnt find the correct sized ones and didnt care that much haha.
once connected tuck the loop of wire in behind that door panel and reinstall the sail panel (and door panel if not already).
now we should be able to test the lights....heres the turn signals on and the parking lights on....
and now with the truck outside heres one with just parking lights on
i hope someone can find this useful. took me a while to do this thread haha. any questions feel free to ask and i'll try to address them.
OH AND EDIT: im sure there is a way to get to the correct wires inside the cab in that mess of wires but it was easier for me to do it this way. also, keep in mind if u have factory DRLS or did the DIY mod where the DRLS are the turn signals then the signal LEDs in the mirrors will also be lit up. i dont have DRLS so it wasnt an issue with me.
