This is a discussion thread titled "White Tundra, Black Badges", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Alright, I needed a good weekend project and was thinking of painting the badges flat black. I searched around but couldn't find any pictures of black on white. (my ultimate goal is to get rid of all the chrome on the truck. I have the black gril surround so I think it will look pretty clean if i can get everything black.) Has anyone done this with a white truck? Thanks

So i did it and it looks great. I just used Duplicolor Flat Black and Duplicolor Clear coat. 3 coats of each, some 3m tape, and then back on the truck.

Here is mine on a Slate! Love it! Some people ask me what tundra model do I have! Going to install a mesh grille that is being powder coated black at this time and just had a set of stock TRD wheels black powder coated. I used Krylon Gloss black on the badges. I also painted my TRD exhaust tips black using NHT 2000 degree F flat black.

That looks good, better than I thought it would, another member painted his steelies black it looked sick, you should consider painting yours, everyone has alloys, makes the OEM steel wheels look unique.
I actually have black American Eagle Wheels lined up for it. Im buying them from one of the guys on here so it should look alot better. I hate the stock steels.

The only thing I would do differently is use some real automotive paint (i.e. with hardener) instead of the rattle can stuff, as the better paint will hold on much longer after repeated washings, road debris etc.
I did my tan ("desert sand") with blacked out emblems, but I raised the door emblem up to the crease on the door profile, and I took all the stuff from the back and put the chrome "toyota" on the tailgate pull handle. it looks much cleaner IMHO.
Ya i broke the the little toyota badge on the tailgate taking it off so it says "TOY" now. I just have to find a place to put it! I was thininkin on the engine cover or maybe inside on the dash.
