if you were honest you would say, they could have improved on many item's, from 2007 to 2008, but did nothing.
and if they don't resolve any of the issue's for 2009, that's just sad.
Toyota was dead set on releasing the Tundra for the 2007 model year. It was pushed back so far that if they would have delayed it anymore it sould be called a 2008. I got my CM in April last year and that was probably as early as you could get them. New model year cars are typically available 3 or 4 months BEFORE the model year, not 3 or 4 months AFTER it. At the very least they should technically be 2007 1/2.
I could see why there weren't many (if any) changes from the 07 to the 08, considering there was only 6 months between the time they were released. Toyota really needs to step up to the plate on the 09s, there should be plenty of time to resolve any problems.
BTW: The only problem I've had is the radio, ended up replacing it with an aftermarket DVD/Nav and never looked back. I have between 25K and 30K I'd say 75% of that mileage was with a trailer.
I've had my 07 CM LTD for 10 months, 18K miles and it has only been to the shop for wheel alignment early on and regular service. No problems with the tranny or interior parts.
2009 crewmax will have a bigger bed.
yeppie, now resolve the other issue's toyota corp.
toyota used to stand for something.
if you were honest you would say, they could have improved on many item's, from 2007 to 2008, but did nothing.

especially when many are being enlightened day after day.
but yet, still people go into the dealership without the knowledge.
i wish more people knew of this site.
before they bought the truck.
i haven't had the time, to get directly into there corp. office, but belive me i will. and sit down with them.
i want this truck, it grew on me.
but the bed bounce killed me.
and yet i still want 1, because i know i can in time, resolve it myself, i know alot of great ase susp. guy's.
all it's going to cost is time & money.
but if i do get 1 i will resolve it, and all of you will know what to do.
that i promise you.
unless i buy something else. hummm. the GT-R is OUT! they want 25+ g's over msrp are they nut's(110grand). i'd buy the new vette before that car, for the same price.
i happen to love my 05 doublecab. i'd never get rid of it.
all my aftermarket part's only made it better & more fun to drive. ;-)

Mind if I ask what your source is re: 2000 MY Crewmax will have a bigger bed?
I am going to put an order in for a 2009 Crewmax soon, just need to get around to figuring out when they are due to come out! Does anyone here know?
My other question is ... if its going to have a longer bed, how much longer will it be? I HATE long bed trucks with a passion, and I thought the current Crewmax was perfect proportion wise for my particular taste and needs. If the 09's beds are going to be a great deal longer and its not an option to stay with the shorter bed, then maybe I should buy an 08 MY after all.
1.replaced clock first week, not keeping time, no problems.
2. 5 months ago rear diff seapage at 5 spots.
replaced seal AFTER 2 DEALERSHIPS DIDN'T WANT TO TOUCH IT UNLESS OIL WAS "HITTING CONCRETE". Starting seapage again at one bottom screw. Toyota dealer said it might do this. Some others have same issue. That Toyota dealer said it is Normal initially.
3. interior plastics are soft (scratch easy), and fade.
4. areas of welding on under carriage show rust, seems strange so early.
These are my concerns.
5. I DON'T load HEAVY things on tailgate, so Toyota got lucky with me.
It is a good truck, but only time will prove if it was great truck.
I bought it for top dollar and don't dare trade in for new SIERRA with 6.2 engine and 6 speed tranny now. It would be nuts TO LOOSE 15,000 DOLLARS AFTER ONLY ONE YEAR!
For those who don't have ANY problems, I am truly glad for you.
I was in the same boat for 9 YEARS AND 200,000 miles on 99 F150 WITHOUT ANY ISSUES that I traded on Tundra BECAUSE I wanted it after I first saw it and drove it.
I should have waited two years to allow all the bugs to be worked out, and get 5,000 bucks of msrp as they are today.
LOYALIST NO, REALIST YES.

First of all, a lot of the issues with the Tundra (cam, tranny, driveshaft, etc.) were isolated batches of bad parts made by other companies. The overwhelming majority of Tundras produced don't have any of these problems and never will. In the cases where people had problems, Toyota stood behind their products 100%. That, to me, is the most important thing. For all the BS flying around about the Tundra ruining Toyota's reputation for reliability, I say this is the best truck I have ever owned and it has sold me on Toyota and thier willingness to take care of their customers. Given the way I have been treated in the past by all of the Big 3, it will be very hard for any of them to win my business back.

Bought my '07 DC 4x4 LTD in October of last year and have been very pleased so far. The only issue I have had is a rotor warping at +/- 7,500 miles but the dealer was great and replaced the front rotors in less than 1 hour while I waited.
I think most of the problems have been "overblown" and are only newsworthy because Toyota has set the bar so high in the past in regards to reliability. Compared to the then "new" '99 GMC Sierra 4x4 that I had, this truck has been dead-nuts reliable. I had 12 warranty visits within the 1st year on the GMC and even tried to get GM to buy it back due to a manufacturing defect that they NEVER fixed (intermediate steering shaft). That truck was my 1st and last lease vehicle and in 3 years and 44K miles, the intermediate steering shaft was replaced 5 times and GM's only response was "bring it back when it needs replacing again". Just imagine the howls on this and other sites of Toyota had a widely recognised defect that they refused to fix.
I relate this story only because I read so many negative posts about the Tundra where some would have you believe domestic trucks are better engineered or built. I chose the Tundra over the F-150 and the Chevy/GM 1500 because of the powertrain AND my personal experience owning a '05 Sequoia. I have owned Ford, Chevy and Dodge trucks in the past so I speak from experience and not just partisan rhetoric.
If you're worried about the reliability of the Tundra, don't buy it. As others have mentioned, GM, Ford and Dodge would absolutely LOVE to sell you a truck right now too.
BUY WHAT YOU LIKE,
Don't let internet sites steer you.
By now Tundra has been out long enough, ask friends who have them.
I recommend for price range driving 2009 Sierra with 6.2 liter engine and six speed tranny, you will be pleasantly surprised at this new gm truck. TRY new 09 dodge and new 09 f150.
It will be yours so try them all.
My experience is not yours, you may get one with ZERO problems, NO MATTER WHICH ONE.
ALL Toyota Dealerships are not the same, there are some really terrible service departments that when they rotate tires don't torque correctly and cause premature uneven rotor wear, so shop around.

I have crew ltd, swaybar, volant, dual trd, flagg the heck out of it keep it clean, change tires to toyo a/T, put level kit on front, tow not too heavy, haul full bed of oak firewood, dirt, gravel 5 times a year...6000+ miles and not one problem! If you don't like the interior put the carbon fiber overlay in it, changes everything. Just my 2 cents
