hello everyone i just joined this forum and id like to say so far its been really great..i already found a way to fit some subs in the back..heres my situation..my last 2 trucks where gmc's and i want to try something different and im really interested in a 2007 toyota tundra crew max limited..so i went to cars.com and edmunds.com to read all the consumer reviews in this model..and too be honest im reading alot of problems from plastic parts on the interior and the more bigger problems the tranny...the plastic parts i can live with..but the tranny is something that worries me..so can any owners of this model maybe chime in and let me know how there experience has been so far? by the way this is the truck im looking to piuck up..i dont know why but for some reason this just looks awsome and aggressive..very mean..lol..also how much can i expect to haggle them down on these trucks..i know with gas being high there is little demand for gas guzzlers..but i dont care you live once and you gotta have fun..lol
read the thread about:
what you hate about your tundra, or something like that.
it will give you a idea of whats what.
here is what some have said in the past
cam shaft
tranny
bed bounce
tail gate
thin paint
thin metal bumper's
cheap plastic door panels scratch and scuff easy
dash flake, peeling
cheap audio
no auto head lights
recessed gauges hard to read
rear seat belts clanking around
need's better tires
need's a bigger gas tank
better way for a oil change
body roll
a/c vents don't stay in place/wobbely
locking fuel door needed
crewmax bed to short
hard arm rest's
rusting under carriage
navagation isn't that good
better differential
no auto 4X4
no real LSD
other than that it's a awesome truck, especially the 5.7, add a TRD supercharger, trd rear antisway bar, trd cai. and your good to go.
congrad's, good luck!

other than that its an awesome truck...............what? im a die hard toyota fan but lets face it this truck single handedly brought toyota down in reliability according to edmunds, msn and consumer reports. anyway i dont want to rain on the parade, im probably buying one next year unless they get these probs straightened out. A crewmax with a 5.5 ft box, it blows my mind, we might as well buy ridgelines.

Which problems would you like them to straighten out? My truck has been rock solid for the last 15 months and I really couldn't care less what CR, edmunds or MSN or anyone else has to say about it. Bottom line: if this truck doesn't suit your needs, don't buy it....I'm sure Chevy, Ford or Dodge would love to sell you one of theirs.

ya main problems is tranny and the bed bounce thing..i saw a vid on you tube the bed was bouncing around like jello..so i just gotta take it on the high way during test drive and nail it see how it does around 60+ and see what kind of warranty they have..what i found crazy was i was reading a consumer review where they took the guys tranny out and didnt even replace it with a new one but a rebuilt tranny that had about 30k miles on it..i dont know i think thats crazy of toyota to do..
I have the 07 CM Ltd and have had just one problem - the air/fuel mixture sensor. No tranny, differential, brake, tailgate, or major mechanical problems. It does bounce like crazy on certain concrete highways, so if you drive a lot on them, take your truck for a test drive on those particular highways before you buy. I've had Nissan and Ford trucks, and I like the Toyota the most.

Mines got 60K miles on it, not one problem. My 05 dmax was junk. My neighbors 07 dmax lost its tranny last week. My friend had the same problems I had. 3 buddys had Rams, nothing but problems.
These are first hand experiences with people I know. I don't personally know any Tundra owners that had problems.
This, on the other hand, is a website with everyone in North America responding, so it may seem like lots of problems to you--but really I think people are looking/hoping the mighty Toyota falls on its face so they blow every problem out of proportion.
Can anyone here say they personally know several Tundra owners that have had serious problems?
PS yeah the 5.5' box sucks, but my dirtbike fits in just right

Was there a Tundra parade that I missed? AND you control the weather? Boy, am I out of the loop!
And the rest of what you say doesn't make sense...you ARE buying one next year if it still has all these problems?
Oh, and does that mean you don't even own one? Well, I guess that makes you the authority of Tundra's the rest of us experienced owners just hope one day to be....assuming we get to the point of weather control and all of course.
In the meantime, we are experiencing a drought in South Texas...you think you could make it rain down here some to help out my grass?
2009 crewmax will have a bigger bed.
yeppie, now resolve the other issue's toyota corp.
toyota used to stand for something.
if you were honest you would say, they could have improved on many item's, from 2007 to 2008, but did nothing.
and if they don't resolve any of the issue's for 2009, that's just sad.
especially when many are being enlightened day after day.
but yet, still people go into the dealership without the knowledge.
i wish more people knew of this site.
before they bought the truck.
i haven't had the time, to get directly into there corp. office, but belive me i will. and sit down with them.
i want this truck, it grew on me.
but the bed bounce killed me.
and yet i still want 1, because i know i can in time, resolve it myself, i know alot of great ase susp. guy's.
all it's going to cost is time & money.
but if i do get 1 i will resolve it, and all of you will know what to do.
that i promise you.
unless i buy something else. hummm. the GT-R is OUT! they want 25+ g's over msrp are they nut's(110grand). i'd buy the new vette before that car, for the same price.
i happen to love my 05 doublecab. i'd never get rid of it.
all my aftermarket part's only made it better & more fun to drive. ;-)

Have had my Limited since April 2007...not one single problem to date, currently sitting right about 24,000 miles. I Absolutely Love My 2007 Tundra

Bought mine in August 07 (Limited CM 4x4) - now have 25,000 miles on it with zero problems. I've been towing 3k to 6k trailers, made several cross country trips and regularly load a Yamaha R1 in the bed. My transmission hasn't gone out, my tailgate isn't cracked, my dash hasn't "peeled" and none of the "plastic" interior has just broken off on its own.
My only issues with the truck at all are 1) scratches show up "loudly" - my truck is blue, if someone in a parking lot dings you with their door, you'll have a pretty white scratch. 2) I broke one of the rearseat AC vents somehow sleeping back there at a rest stop - I think I must have gotten up and somehow kicked it and squashed it into the duct... oh well, my fault. 3) having to remove the skid plate to get to the oil filter is annoying, and not having an ordinary spin on canister type filter adds to the annoyance. 4) Nav system could have been done much better, and will really piss you off that you can use many of the functions while driving.
So aside from these REALLY minor things, its been perfect. I still love this truck - and going for a ride in it really tempts my buddies who own other trucks.
