SRT10 proven weak drivetrain? Stock motor is good for 600rwhp. Too much more than that, and the pistons don't last long. I had my motor built for the power, and it has a warranty from the builder
They say the tranny is good for 800, but I've seen them take 1000. Rear end is stout... not sure how much they can take, but it handles my power just fine. Never had or heard of a problem with any coolant leaks. Stock clutch does suck IMO, but there are guys at 50k miles on the stocker so maybe it has something to do with the driver
I'm not gonna talk smack about your trucks, or act like I know all about them from what I've seen on Youtube LOL. Just because 1 or 2 trucks have an issue, doesn't mean that they all do. No need to talk **** here guys... I come in peace
I really like the Tundra, and if I had the $$$ I'd have one for a daily driver. Maybe when I get the 10 paid off.
Thank you and I'm the same way. Nothing like blowing the doors off of a Cobra or Z06 in a 5000# truck
Like I said, I'm not here to talk sh*t... just BS about trucks, and see if any of you guys wanna come to our g2g SoCal g2g - Oct 31st
For the Hp question... I'm pushing 635rwhp on 7lbs of boost as of right now. Working on going with a 10# SC pulley, and a 7in lower which should be good for 12-13psi and 700rwhp +/-. It's not a real common application so we're having issues finding a belt. Hope to have it squared away this weekend.
The Cobras are 13.0+ sec's cars, and the Z06 is 11.5s ~ 11.7 bone stock, are you sure your blowing the doors off a Z06?

Good mature post..... I am surprised that this thread hasnt devolved into a pissing match already.... you are a welcome addition to this forum.... thanks for the response....

I haven't run my truck at the track since the build, but it's capable of 11.7s (according to 1/4 mile calculator) That's on 7psi, not the 12 I'll be running shortly.
Car and Driver puts the C5 Z06 at 12.4, and the C6 a 11.8
I pulled one from about 55-100 pretty good. I'm guessing it was a C5. From a dig, traction would kill me.

Got ya. When I hear Z06 I think C6 Z06, to me the C5 Z06 needs the "C5" always put in front of it. The C6 Z06 is 11.7 rated by GM, but many guys easily beat that time, and with drag radials only a stock Z06 is 11.2 ish.
BTW nice truck.

I hear ya. Obviously, the type of race has alot to do with it. From a 50 roll, I can actually put all of my TQ to use
[QUOTE=DawgBonez;1344563]damn that's a gay post... Sorry mods...but...mmmm...yeah...
This guy does NOT own a SC Tundra, or he would know that the TRD SC'ed Tundras are backed by a manufacturer warranty... do that with a SRT= no warranty on an already proven weak drivetrain.... Personally, I'd like to see someone with enough exsperience and the balls to toss the warranty, and push more out of this motor.... I've yet to see anyone venture off and find this motor's breaking point... and/or push it till it pops...
Also... let's put the Viper and the SRT powered truck against some death tolls.... Who wins for their safety technology.... IF anything... they should recall the Viper for being the most dumbed down vehicle vs power to weight vehicle on the road... That machine has taken soooo many lives for it's lack of computer assist or any further saftey measures...... Seriously...Google this stuff... it's F'ed...
my guess is an armchair racer like you should first check his facts before opening it.
i'm one of the few and the only one in the area who has actually installed his own s/c on a tundra against the advice of so called pros.who has the balls now?who's talking warranty anyway?
A few peeps are pushing the limit as we speak and are "finding the breaking point" as you put it.
once again like some other members you bring in other points to comfort yourself into proving by any means that the tundra is the superior truck.
this thread was about speed!not safety and not guzzling!and yes, seeing someone crashing is not least bit funny unless you have never raced on a track then of course it's freakin hillarious.right?
if the viper has "killed so many people" because of the lack of driver aides that makes it a bad car?imo just bad drivers who get in over their heads.god knows we all complain enough about the nannies in our trucks.
btw i'm a short hop across the causeway if you want to see a s/c tundra that i don't own
and yes,i maintain that a rt10 will pull me as traction sucks on tundras.Simple.

At one point, I had considered the SRT-10. But as I understand it, you can't get the regular cab with auto tranny? The RCSB only comes with the Tremec 6 speed?
Sometimes, I have to drive through Atlanta or other heavy stop and go traffic. The manual would get old real quick for me.

Yep, the RCs only come with the T56, and the QCs only come with the 48RE. There have been a few guys that have done the TH400 conversion in the RC, but I'm sure it was costly.
I drive through Atlanta every day and I would much prefer a 6 speed manual to this 6 speed auto in the tundra. Just different peoples preferences. I came to tundras from a 6 speed manual trd Tacoma. Even though I commute 123 miles daily I just like driving a manual better.

Probably already mentioned but I'm too lazy to look. SRT10 Ram is the same situation as the Viper. There are ALOT more people who can afford to buy them than there are who know how to actually plant all that power to the ground and consistently achieve the times that those vehicles are capable of. The great equalizer in these sorts of pair-ups is the owner who can competently cruise around all day in a manual-transmission vehicle making 500-plus HP but who cannot race one. Seen lots of race videos where people think knowing how to operate a stick in normal traffic and owning the vehicle=automatic victory then end up looking pretty dumb, getting their asses handed to them by much less powerful vehicles that they should have easily walked on.
