I know some of you have mentioned you are having the problem with the vents creeping up slowly when turned up full blast. My drivers right side is just plain annoying now. It used to stay in place for half the day now it's so loose it creeps within a minute.
Was the dealaer actually able to fix this for you or was it just a waste of time taking it in?
they replaced the vent. I had them do both the drivers side and passenger side. was no big deal and now they are perfect.

I had the dealer check it out at my last oil change (Friday). They ordered a new vent to be installed under warranty. I'll hopefully have a chance to get over there early next week.

All my dash vents won't hold position. Went to the dealer to ask for the parts since I don't trust the morons to replace the dash without breaking some tabs. They said no, asked if I could watch the install they said no because of insurance. I told him I would sit in the back seat what harm could I get into, again he said no. Asked him what he had to hide? Then I asked him if I was supposed to trust that they could do this, and he had the nerve to say yes. I then told him if I allowed them to do the work if I pull the dash and find a bad install what would he offer? He said nothing. So not sure if I will try and fix this myself.
On my DC it's the one to the right of the steering wheel. It won't stay center so that the air blows on me, but drifts up or down. I asked them to look at it during my last oil change and they "couldn't reproduce the problem". I didn't have the time to argue, but will be taking it up at the next oil change and taking the PDF that mral1515 thoughtly provided. Thanks!

Yea my vent to the right of the steering wheel creeps too! I have to move it down every time I want the air blowing directly on me. Not really a huge issue but maybe I'll have them change out the vent next time I'm in for an oil change. I was thinking it was my aggressive driving that made the vent move but I guess it happens to everyone lol.

You manual has a fix for it, you just have to look in there. What you gotta do is tear off a corner of one of the pages, fold it several times then stick it in the bottom vent, there no more uncooperative vents.

Then you have to drive around with a stupid piece of paper hanging outta your vent lol. I'd rather just get a whole new vent under warranty.

Settle down there Turbo. It is only a couple of vents. You dont have to pull the dash out, all you really do is pull the face plate of the instrument cluster back and slide the old vents out and the new ones in. It is a very quick job should only take most dealers 20-30 min to complete depending on work load. I know this your baby but a trained Toyota tech can handle it.

I "fixed" it one day by mistake actually. I got annoyed and grabbed some of the fins and yanked on them. Turns out just getting one of the fins to pop loose will make the whole vent much harder to move up and down...which is exactly what I wanted.
Just get the top fin to pop out of one side, should do the trick.
Then you have to drive around with a stupid piece of paper hanging outta your vent lol. I'd rather just get a whole new vent under warranty.
Not if you fold it into a really small thick piece and crap it between the bottom vent, its hardly noticeable and then you dont have to worry about the techs at the dealership screwing anything up.
