SAP - adding a trans cooler

I have a '07 DC SAP = no tow package. I'd like to add an after market tranny cooler. Texas heat, plumbing, and specific coolers aren't the issue:

Has anyone installed an OEM "ATF Thermostatic Valve" which feeds the cooler? Looks like it just bolts up between the "ATF Warmer" body and the tranny case and simply has two hose nipples to the cooler. (Looking at the FSM, anyway.)

Are the ATF Warmers the same with or without the tow package?

The ATF heat exchanger is the same for both models. There's a plate sandwiched between it and the transmission case that has the thermostat and nipples for the trans cooler. To install a transmission cooler you have to buy the thermostat plate and o-rings as well as the hard lines. It's a few hundred bucks by the time you're all said and done. I've looked into this myself because of wanting to install an inline transmission filter.

Thanks for the verification - exactly what I assumed and was asking for I'll just plumb the hard lines myself - no need for OEM expense there.
