I know this has been covered before but I have a few pics of the shim I made that seemed to work for me. Seeing that there may be quite a few trucks with this annoying problem, I thought I would post a small DIY on how to fix it.
I cut two blocks of wood (size depends on application) and wrapped them in duct tape. I used two, one near the edge of the passengers side dash and one over about 8". My dash had waves in it so I was trying to smooth it out. You have to take out the lower glove box and some of the side plastic panels to access the upper dash from the inside. You will feel a metal lip underneath the plastic dash and that is where I wedged my shims in to bring up the dash to meet the side pilar. Here are the pics.
Before and after.

Somehow I don't see this one making tundrenalin's DIY list. It might last long enough to get it back to the dealer to get it fixed properly.

nah, this will work fine. I did the same thing last year except I used tightly rolled felt instead of wood. Its held fine for a year and hasnt sagged or dropped with the seasonal weather changes. Its never even made a noise either. Odds are the dealers arent going to do anything much different or better to fix this problem.
Its a 10 minute fix and saves time and a trip to the dealer........... good post DJM.
Thanks for the post. I just noticed mine doing that yesterday. It wasn't there a couple of weeks ago, and all of a sudden it is........

I am on my 2nd gen 2 tundra and both had the pass side dash lower, noticeable next to the front pillar. Noticed on my 1st tundra and when I bought the 2nd I checked and about 50% on my dealers lot had the same problem. My salesman said they could 'fix it", but i don't trust some of the flunkys the have work on minor cosmetic problems. I wasn't concerned enough to let them mess something else up trying to fix it. Now I will try the diy fix. Thanks for the post DJM86
Damn, every time I check TS I'm forced to wonder if I have the only truck produced that has no problems. lol
Nope! They made at least two with no problems!!

Ha... as I look over the dozens of Tundras on local lots wondering when to take the plunge, the first thing I look at is that darned right side of the dashboard vs. something useful like the sticker... gad...
I've noticed that most trucks have a small piece of anti-rattle felt (educated guess) wedged between the A-pillar trim and dash. On a couple the piece is partially exposed and on one the felt was sitting on top of the dash.
With all that hard plastic that makes up the dash Toyota probably used a couple hundred feet of that stuff....

Thanks. I wasn't trying to make any list, just show a quick fix for something pretty annoying. Honestly I never noticed it until the other member here pointed it out, then I would notice it every time I get in my truck. When I was poking around up under the dash, it seemed like the plastic panels don't really fit together very well. At least not nearly as well as my wife's 06 RAV4. Oh well, it looks acceptable now.
