Door popping noise when opening - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

My driver's side door makes a popping/clicking noise when opening. It seams like it pops at each stopping point. It doesn't seem like it's coming from the top or bottom hinge, but more from the center piece that goes into the door.

I already sprayed some WD40 with no results.

Anyone run into this and have a fix? I don't want to have to take it to the dealer, if I can fix it myself.

You can check your door's latch to make sure it's perfectly in the middle of the striker on the B pillar.

Door is lined up correctly and hits the strike perfect. I'm pretty sure it's the middle piece on the hinge side that goes into the door. It looks like I will have to have the dealer look at it at the next oil change. Thanks for the suggestion.

Another thing you can try is to roll your window down and hold the bottom part of your door then push the upper window frame openning outward just a tad, this will probably help the popping and you might also want to wd40 the checkstrap too.

My company truck did this a while back not Toyota but come to find out the hinge where door connects to frame was cracked.Look at it closely when opening door.It would pop and click everytime I opened and closed the door.

I had the same problem, it ended up being the door hinge area the bolts/nuts were loose, dealer fixed it for me when I went in for an oil change.

Is the door check the middle piece in between the hinges? I'll check to see if I can see any bolts to tighten. Thanks for the info.

I tried your suggestion and it worked. All it took was a 10mm socket. I checked all the other doors and they need a little tightening too.

I have seen this a couple times. It is an easy fix we have seen it on a lot of Toyota's. Not just the Tundra
