Default Camera install not working on AVIC-D3

Well i want to thank all who gave me the advice on running video wire under my tundra for backup camera. Got all that done and camera will not show on screen,

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 head unit and hooking up an aftermarket 12v backup cam to rear liscence plate.

-I tested all wires and I am getting power
-Pulled radio out to make shure it was connected to rear backup camera video input on radio
-made sure camera function turned on on radio

Camera still not showing picture on screen... I have spent hours troubleshooting and no results..Even exchanged camera cause I thought it was defective.

Anybody have a suggestion..
Thanks
Eddie

You have to turn on the camera in the setup screen. R.T.F.M......

Did you hook up the backup sensor wire on the head unit when you installed it? I believe it is the purple wire....

What brand of camera are you using? I used a Boyo tag mount camera and had a heck of a time getting it to work with my Pioneer F900-BT but it was a simple error I made. I had the power wire from the camera hooked into the reverse wire for the truck instead of directly to the power lead coming from the stereo itself. Once I did that and made sure the reverse lead from the stereo harness was tapped correctly to the reverse wire of the truck it worked.

How did you test the wire for power to the camera? When the shifter was in reverse or as standby? Not real sure what the wiring looks like on your camera... Also.... is the camera input into the radio a RCA have you checked anything else to see if the RCA is working?

Backup sensor is hooked up on radio, well it switches to camera everytime i back up so im sure its hooked up. i hooked camera directly to battery to test and still no picture.

Do you have to connect it to a particular power source for it to work. if so then im sure thats whats wrong. but i figured any 12v power source would work.

Below a pic of this camera. cheap but need something for the boat

This is a pic of camera, red and black tiny wires for power and ground.
