Default YIKES - another NEW rotational sound

So today I'm cruising with my windows down and notice while on a LH curve with trees that I'm hearing a metalic "WHOSH WHOOOSH WHOOOSH"... Nothing on straight line, nothing on RH turn, but only on LH turn. I'm conveniently 392 miles over the 36K and have had the truck 13 months since new. I just returned from a 2K mile road trip last week without issue, so I call my dealer who serviced my truck and got the big "F*ck You" from a service rep (i.e., 'that doesn't sound like a warranty issue to us sir').

So I finally get home and it looks to me like the dust shield on the brake rotor is awfully close on the RH front wheel. So a little pressure and voila, seems to be better for the moment.

Leaves me with 2 questions.
1.) How could this suddenly start rubbing without any accident or pressure or brake work, etc...?
2.) Am I the only one in the club with this problem?

I've seen brake dust shields bent from tires being removed. If the rim contacts the dust shield and it's being dragged across it, you can easily bend it to the point of it rubbing on the rotor. Have you had the tires recently rotated?

Great tip, actually NO, I haven't rotated them as i've been trying to wear down those junk BFG Rugged Trails so I can get some new rubbers on it.

My dealer said "it was likely caused from someone doing brake work who didn't know what they were doing" on your truck... To which I calmly reminded him that his technicians at Newark Toyota World were the only guys to ever touch it in the 36,500 miles since it left the factory!

What scumbags. Am I the only one who hates the way the dealer treats them? $42K+ on the damn new truck and 3rd vehicle I've purchased from them within 24 months.

this raises a good question... WHY wouldn't the rub be constant and only when I am going around a RH turn??? I shook the wheel and didn't notice any play or slop but the weight of the vehicle and extra force of turning sure makes it happen!

You'd be surprised if you were able to see the actual amount of deflection that occurs when you load the wheel from the side when you take a corner. Even though everything's tight in the front end, the bearings (which the rotors and hub are attached to) still have some give. If the dust shield (stationary to the spindle) were just a few thousandths away from the rotor, they will come in contact when taking a harder or higher speed corner. In comparison, it's not all to uncommon to hear the brake squealers on low enough brake pads making contact under these same circumstances. There's nothing wrong with your front wheel bearings - some give in them is totally normal and actually desired. You won't feel anything if you jack up the wheel and try to wiggle it around due to the lack of load on the bearing.
