Default Anyone switch out their stock remote starter for a aftermarket one?

I have the stock Remote engine starter which we all know is not worth a crap. Has anyone changed out their stock one for an aftermarket type? Is that even possible?

My truck didn't come with a stock remote start so I just went and got one installed shortly after I took delivery. As to your question, I don't know the answer to either.

I have one its called AutoPage

Auto Page Vehicle Security Alarm Systems - Car Alarms, Remote Starters, Keyless Entry

Its awesome, its got a half mile start range, it lets you know alot
on the little screen. You dont have to turn the truck of or anything
after you activate it, just deactivate the system and put the key
right in. I had the factory remote start and its POS. This alarm is
great and not overpriced at all.

So it sounds like you had a Toyota factory remote start and you were able to install the AutoPage sys. Or at least had someone install it.

Took a look at the web site and there are a boatload of Remote starters to choose from. What model do you have?

You can install an aftermarket remote start whether or not you have a factory one. The aftermarket will not "replace" your factory one; it will just go in like you didn't have one in the first place. You will just be using the remotes from the aftermarket one, so there should be no reason to bother pulling the factory components.

I am still happy with my Compustar. I will never have another car without one again. I have the CompuStar Pro P2WSSR.

Viper 5900 Alarm System w/ remote start. VIPER 5900 installed!

Deal at viper car alarms - SHOP.COM

Viper 5900 and others at Viper - Error!

I absolutely love this setup! No regrets and recommend it to everyone! The remote works up to about a mile; I have used it up to over 1/2 a mile away. No need for a mile away yet.......

I think I only need an add on remote start and not the "alarm/remote start". My truck already has the factory alarm-horn honk . So possibly a Viper remote start might be the ticket since you guys appear to have installed aftermarket remote starts over the factory installed toyota version.
