They are not noisy tires, but if you listen real close, you can hear them (unless you have the radio on). I came off my mountain this morning in a real hurry. It's been raining all night and morning and there are a ton of large puddles on the twisty road. Truck handled like a champ and I drove like it was a dry summer day. Really can't comment on MPGs, but I would suspect I'll be loseing a few tenths. So far I like them. I really won't be able to tell much until I hit some muddy areas or until we start getting snow. I DO know that they are GREAT in the rain.
Thanks Guntech...& I don't mean to hijack this thread...but, I am also very interested in their towing performance (how they feel & do they have any more "side-to-side" motion than the stock tires). Will you be doing any towing anytime soon? No big deal either way...enjoy...Thanks again...B.

I don't do any heavy towing. I would "assume" they are better than the Ragged Trails, because they are a stiffer tire and more sure footed. No more squeeling when you go into a turn. Sorry I couldn't help.

I can see where the SA's might be good in the rain as the the voids between tread blocks are pretty well unrestricted allowing decent water evacuation routes!

I like em!

Exactly. I've never understood why BF Goodrich would design the crappy Rugged Trails with a closed shoulder. Take a look at the outer edges of the Rugged Trails, NO evacuation route for water. Bad design.

A closed shoulder design should theoretically lessen the chance of any cupping and also might help with with tread squirm depending on the hardness of the rubber.
Personally, I place a high priority on a tires wet weather ability particularly it's ability to resist hydroplaning!

OK, so I've been driving around on the new tires. They handle great and are unreal in the rain. I did notice that I've lost 1 - 1.5 mpg with these tires. I'm confident that what I am gaining over the Ragged trails will be well worth it though.

Re: Want to Upgrade Tires....need to see pics of yours
Been running the SAs on both my trucks for years and the only advise I have is to keep them rotated. They do have a tendency to cup. Otherwise, they are great in the rain, snow, or whatever. Use to run the BFG all terrains, but were never happy with them in the rain. Good in the hardpack SoCal dirt though. The SA's have been unbeatable up in the rocks where sidewalls eat it. Never lost one yet and have never had a nail penetrate all the way through. I go to the tire store to pull a nail out just in case in penetrated and never have gotten a hissss yet. IMHO

2000RT...I'm no expert at this...just do a search on TS and you will find all kinds of onroad/offroad tire posts/threads...also the tire rack is a good source to research tires that fit your specific model Tundra...sorry I couldn't be more help...B.

Guntech,
Find it interesting that you lost 1-1.5 mpg with that size SAs. They only weigh about 3 to 4lbs per tire more than the BFGs. Would have thought you would have lost very litttle in mileage with that size and weight. It seems I lost 1 - 2 mpgs with my E rated SAs, up 1 size (275/70/18s - 57lbs) which I expected. Keep me posted if your mileage changes.

4wd provided me no thrills with just a little bit of spinning in an uphill offcamber situation. My buddy's Silverado flung mud everywhere and was revvin' to get out in 4wd.
Then, as a bet, my buddy in a Z71 Tahoe bet another brother that he could get through in 2wd and if he could, the other brother would have to take his 2wd Tahoe through it lol. The Z71 made it through but blew a tire and a LOT of spinning. His sidewall gave on his Goodyears, not even the actual tread lol.
I'd post pics but my phone has some major water damage from washing it lately and I can't find my camera charger.
Oh yeah, and my d*mn ABS, 4hi/4lo, RSCA, BRAKE lights came on. When I got stuck I couldn't get it into 4wd. Turned my truck off and my ABS light stayed on - again. I can't figure it out why. Luckily after a few miles the light went off BUT, those lights still come on when I start my truck.

Maybe got some mud or crap in the sensors?
