TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "DT longtubes installed", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
My URD O2 sim is now working properly...no check engine light. I noticed after about 700 miles of driving that my fuel mileage with the long tubes has dropped about 1.5 mpg. :-( If I am lucky my long term fuel trims are probably off and can get fixed during my future dyno tune.
97 s/c 4x4 v6 tacoma - even a s/c toyota will last a very long time (229k) , great truck sold to friend
03 modded mustang cobra vert - very impressive engine when modded, not a very good chassis, irs sucks
99 modded ls1 t/a - pretty impressive engine when modded, good chassis with minor mods, likes nitrous
96 modded tt mkiv - impressive engine if lots of boost, little power under 4k rpm, don't street race on cold drs (totalled)
05 modded hemi durango - pretty good power, not good offroad, hemi is overrated (would probably lose 0 to 60 to 4.7L 4runner above)
Just got back in town from San dimas. I have no scanner to place my graph on forum as of yet. Numbers are as follows, very similar to Ryder might i add.
Baseline: 293 RWHP 304 RWT
Following mods were on during baseline (prior to dyno tune)
True Flow XDI intake, DT Tri-Y headers, Magna Flow Hi-flow Cats(only 2),
Custom y-pipe w/crossover done by Andrew at San Dimas, Corsa Sport
Exit exhaust, And UniChip w/ 87 octane map being used. Think that covers
it.
Custom Tune: Andrew San Dimas auto repair, 91 octane, Mustang Dynojet: 320 RWHP 346 RWT. Total peak gains over baseline 27 RWHP and 42 RWT
I am pleased with my results and will post my graph as soon as possible for power curve comparisons. My maximum torque increase after tune was 58 RWT and 36 RWHP, both at apprx 4000 RPM's. Service was top notch and I would definitely recommend His shop for tuning.
Side note as well my trip from San Dimas back to Phx, AZ Showed just over a 1 mpg increase after tune. Could be driving style etc but both there and back cruise control was used as much as possible and was going about 80mph most of the way except for occasional traffic hiccup.
Mods-True Flow XDI intake, DT tri-Y headers, 2 magna flow hi-flow cats, custom y pipe with crossover, Corsa Sport side exit exhaust, UniChip custom tune.
Wow nice gains bezam! Mustang dynos usually show lower numbers compared to other dynos right? Regardless of that you still have positive results. Do you plan on going to the 1/4 to see what you run now? Oh and did San Dimas remove you speed limiter?

Sorry again i put Mustang Dynojet, it is just mustang Dyno. Andrew at San Dimas did tell me the Mustang reads typically 10% lower than the Dynapack dynojet. So im not sure which one would really be correct then, Mustang or the others? Either way a 10% increase would be ~352 RWHP and ~380 RWT. Yes, sfz, I will also be going to run it in the 1/4 mile some time hopefully soon. I have somewhat significant weight reduction (i guess still minimal on a 5100lbs truck) and every bit helps, so they say.
Also just for comparison sake on dyno's and our biggest truck comp, the titan. Toomnymods from club titan, the fastest titan I know of (runs 12's) put out 330 RWHP and 367 RWT on a dynotech dyno. His mods include JWT cams and electric fans though, among the common others. I can only look forward to what ours will do with cams if they can figure out the VVTI deal.

So what you're saying is that Ryder with the shorties had about the same dyno numbers as bezam with the LT's? Guess the 10% might have played into it some. Ryder, what kind of dyno were you on... I would really be interested in seeing both dyno sheets from Ryder and bezam to compare. I have the shorties and was thinking about moving to the LT's after the warranty was up but it looks like the LT's only help a lot with the S/C installed. Good info here guys!

I'm impressed with the results...what did your a/f ratio look like with the unichip 87 octane tune and what did your final a/f end up at?
I'd also be interested in the exhaust mods that san dimas did...any pictures?
Cost for all of this?
Did Andrew @ San Dimas remove that little screen behind your throttle body? It doesn't seem to perform any function to me other than to potentially keep debris out of the engine. Maybe I need to make a seperate post about this???

Yes, a separate post would be great. This could be some good info for everyone.

Ryder and myself both had our vehicle done at San Dimas so therefore there is no 10% difference same Dyno (mustang dyno, very accurate so i've been told?),tuning, operator, etc. Dyno has a weather station also which accounts for variations in temparature, humidity, so forth. I was hoping for slightly higher peaks too, but i guess its all about are under the curve so we'd have to compare our graphs to see any differences. Tri-Y's are also designed for bottom to midrange torque, which is where i had my biggest spread ~3600 RPM's 58 RWT and 36 RWHP.

I will take pictures of my trucks exhaust shortly, Andrew did a excellent job IMO of the y-pipe/crossover. I Thought my dyno would have A/f ratio's on the print out but it does not. I will find out for you though because i need to contact san dimas for I was accidentally charged twice for a O2 sensor. O.E. one broke on removal. Yes we do need to start a new thread as well. I will try to condense all my info and start a thread on dyno info.
Screen was installed behind TB as well. I forgot about this otherwise i would've removed. Cost, was 300.00 for dyno tune- 100.00 an hour.
