Had both, BFG 305/65/18 TA/KO for the first 20K miles, and Toyo 285/75/18 AT for the next 15K miles.
BFGs width looked better, did not wear evenly, were terrible in snow and ice, but decent off-road. They were a little over half-worn at 20K miles.
Toyos are wearing extremely well (will definitely outlast the BFGs), haven't had a chance to really test them in snow and ice yet, and generally do everything great, but look too skinny from the front or rear. They are about 1/4 worn after 15K miles.
Between the two I would definitely choose the Toyo, but go wider.

Front Susp: Stock coilovers, 4" lift (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...6-4-inch-lift/), swapped extra spacers for Bilstein 5100s on lowest setting, wheel well height still 41.5." Rear Susp: ProComp ES3000 #326510 (2.25" taller than stock), 1.25" blocks plus PRG mini-pack (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...and-new-truck/) gives 2.25" total lift, parking brake cable bracket spacers, wheel well height 43." Front diff and rear ds drop; trailer hitch electrical harness tucked up above bumper. After 20K miles swapped 305/65/18 BFG AT for 285/75/18 Toyo AT, still on stock 18x8x60 offset TRD wheels, about 1/8" clearance to sway bar. Like the extra height but miss the width. Next time either 305/70/, 295/70, or 35x12.50/18. Added 5th 285/75/18 Toyo AT as spare. Bed Bounce: Stiffer E-tires are worse than stock P-metric; biggest improvement from PRG mini-pack, slight improvement from shocks. Still a stiff ride but tolerable now. Best things about this truck: 5.7 and transmission, interior size and comfort, very quiet at high speed. Worst things about this truck: bed bounce, no VSC in 4wd, mileage sucks above 70.
Thanks Daniel I was hoping youd chime in as I know you were one with this size for awhile. Im going to stick with the trd 18's for now so the 285/75/18 Toyos would be the best fit. Im considering the 305 bfgs as well, even though they are "recommended" for 8.5" wheels or wider. Im wondering too that becuase you have more lift than I would, if that would be a reason it looks too "skinny" on yours. Ive seen a few other pics with guys just having the 2.4 up front and it seemed to look fine. All personal preference I guess.

I had the 285/75/18's and I feel they are too much tire for the Tundra. I think you need a true 3-4" of lift for them to fit the right way. I switched to the BFG TA KO's and I like them a lot more.
Here's a pic when I had the Toyo's...

What makes you think they are too much tire? The weight at 66lbs each? I know alot of people run, and are happy with the BFG 305/65/18's and they weigh in at 65lbs a piece, so no real difference. Ive actually decided to go with the lowrangeoffroad 3/1 lift and I think the 285/75/18 Toyos look very proportional. Im also going to go with the hypertech speedo calibrator to restore accurate speedo/odo readings and adjust the shift points properly. Just curious on your feedback.

i have the bfg's and i like them. i'm sure the toyos are just as good. just pick the one you will be the happiest with. seems you like the toyos better from your posts. just get the ones that you like the best. good luck with your decision. btw the bfg's look way meaner
I think they just felt weird because they are so tall and narrow. I'm running the 285/65/18 TA KO's now with my 3/1 Toytec lift and I feel they are a perfect fit. I think 305/65/18's would also be a better fit. Just something about the 285/75 didn't feel stable to me. And yes they are a true 67lbs a piece and you feel every bit of it when you're driving. Especially at low speeds or off camber turns where there is more weight distributed to one of the single tires and you're trying to make a tight turn. Honestly if you wanted a larger tire I'd say a 275/70/18 Toyo Open Country AT would be the way to go. Here's mine now with the 285/65/18 TA KO's...

I appreciate the feedback. Im really having a hard time deciding on tires. But I think for a balance of performance, height and cosmetics, you might be right, the 275/70/18 might just be the way to go. Now do I go with Toyos, Nittos or the new B'stone Dueler D695's...ah more decisions

You gotta remember also they are an E rated 10 ply tire man! That is a lot of tire for a 1/2 ton truck! The diesels push those tires around like nothing but if you really like that performance feel and car like handling with the Tundra you will lose it all with 285/75/18's and it will feel like the regular old trucks you test drove before buying the best...the Tundra. I think you would love a 275/70/18, 325/60/18, or 285/65/18 that is if you want to keep that awesome feel that makes the Tundra what it is...With those big 35's on there it loses that special feel.
...Yea and I've had all sizes...I think this is my 5th set of tires on my Tundra and finally I can say I'm very happy with em...

Great Tire !!!! 22k on mine, should get another 15 out of them. I tow a race car and I snow plow. 10 ply is the way to go for me. Stiff sidewall and stability when towing.
Some Pics in my album

Thats a great pic of your truck with the lift and Toyo's...perfect stance. How do you like the ride/handling of those when youre not towing?

Thanks..
Absolutely superb in all conditions. The factory width that this tire has really helps to maintain factory tracking and it is great to get the tire height without the added width as with a BFG that doesn't come in this size.
I am VERY picky when it comes to tires on any of my or my wifes vehicles. You will be amazed at their traction especially in the snow, but they are SO Quiet, it is amazing. Since I installed mine, 6 of my friends have installed them a Sequoia, F250, Silverado, my brothers Ram 3500 and so on.
While I was laid up with a severe accident with my '05 Tundra I did a lot of research before buying them. Being an engineer and the drag racing there are a lot of little things that make this tire a complete package.
Best truck tire I have ever owned.
Tom
