BSE so your saying the gen2 4.7 that has the same engine, and way more weight can go 20+ more mph. i doubt it. if the 5.7 can't do it. maybe the gen2 V6 can do 120+

like the other guy said prove it.

everyone has said something different. from the gen2 from 107 ,109, 114, 115 and with the trd many have gotten different result's. the trd s/c someone said 160mph, how would they know that? i wish it was true, but that's hard to swollow.

easy have a buddy take a picture of your speedo, when doing that speed and post it. starting from zero(0). you can be tricked by having your speedo start from 30moh as it would be set on (0). by removing the dash and moving the needle.
truth is better than fiction. at least it's honest.

I have no problem trying to set something up with a camera and trying it again. Like I said, I called complete BS when I originally saw the "myth" but out of boredom (and a Chevy trying to outrun me) I tried it. If I can I will try this weekend since I have some traveling to do.

Too bad there are not any controlled areas for this kind of fun, haha.

Just remember, speedo error accounts for a lot the faster you go.

As for a Gen 1 and Gen 2 with the same engine going faster/slower, do both trucks use the same transmission and gear ratios? Longer final gear could possibly account for the Gen 2 being faster at the top end. Aerodynamics as well.

If your looking to confirm your top speeds (at a track of course.. ) use a GPS to confirm your top speed, don't trust your speedo.

hi,
it would be great to hear no matter what:
that toyota corp increased there top speed.

it's just hard to swollow that the 07 & or 08 ,4.7 has a higher top speed than the 5.7, if so that's truely sad!
imagine a 4.7 passing you in your 5.7. that's got to hert, even worse what about the V^ doing the same.
i wonder what the V6 07 & 08 top speed is?

gorilla, the 5.7 and the 4.7 in the 07+ both top out at 115. its goverend there. nothign mysterious or anything. it will go past that im sure, since the time i hit it it felt like it had more. i imagine the V6 is gov'd the same. its not anything about the motor (they have rev limiters to prevent over revving anyway) or transmission. its about the tires and overall vehicle so they are the same across the board. like GM. tahoes, silverados, etc. all are goverend at 99....my V6 was, my co wokrers 2002 5.3 is the same.

so, back on topic, they wont go more than 115 unless somehow the governor is unprogrammed however that is done. doesnt matter what motor, it just is the way it is. nothing about the lack of power. almost anything on the road will do 115. my 96 neon 2.0 3 speed automatic will do 110 that i know of. (ok probally wont squeeze 115 out of it) but u get my point.

So go ahead and throw the tomatoes and lettus heads at me, haha. I tried it on the way to work today and it definitely limited out at 115/6. Not sure why/what/when/how I got what I did last time, maybe I threw it out the window or something to give it a bit more momentum but anyway, myth busted. Sorry for the confusion.

No the Tech Stream can not access the speed sensor "on the transmission"
If it were that easy there would be MANY of us with our knees in the 130+mph BREEEEZE !!

Tech Stream only access's the firmware parameters in the primary ECM.
Many fail to understand there is more then "one" CM on these trucks.

Anyway thats another topic . . . . . .

hi i guess on the 07 & 08's there 4.7 engine's have a different set up of code's, to allow the difference in speed.
many gen2 tundra's do not go 115mph they top out at 107 or 109mph according to there owners who have stated that.

so not all go 115mph. heck put the s/c on and go 160mph, i live to se that 1, since the speedo is no where on that guage.LOL
