This is a discussion thread titled "Bout 8" of nasty mud", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Well, Friday night my buddies called me up and said, "hey were' muding up at the house." Be there in 5!
So I headed over there and tehy were tryin' to get through in 2wd and such with no luck. Nobody made it through in 2wd and a Silverado was going WOT to get through in 4wd it seemed. I hit it up all nannies off and make it about 10 feet. Stuck and sunk so I pop 'er in 4wd and out we go without much problem. These ruts got deeper and deeper and by Saturday they were tall enough to drench the Ranch Hand.
Anyway, here are some pics. I made it through the farthest in 2wd but still no luck. 4wd was the easiest for me without taking it over 2500 rpm even at the worst of the ruts.
Although it wasn't too challenging, it made for a lot of fun. Also, one of my buddy's in his Tahoe blew out his sidewall b/c it had previous damage and also he was spinning 'em for about 2 minutes on a bet haha. Once it blew it made it through in 2wd. No use for his 4wd though.

I can not imagine why you have had so many issues w/ your truck. looks like you take real good care of it lol. (Sorry rock, couldn't resist, but seriously it looks like you had a blast.)
haha I do take good care of it surprisingly. Probably not as good as most but it should be able to take abuse. It's not like I bought a Audi quattro to do a man's work since it has 4wd too.
Although, the thing that perplexes me is that the ABS light came on again when I was in the mud. Same thing that I posted about a few weeks ago. This time I needed 4wd so after I restarted my truck it worked. ABS light was on and solid until I drove it a little bit at which point it went off. I think I may have a fouled ABS sensor. The last time it came on it had been well over 2 months since the last time my truck was in the mud.

It cost this guy $200 for one tow, a hydrolocked engine, another $100 for a tow in town, and a blown Warn winch on one of his buddy's rigs (not pictured). Nobody could budge him lol

haha dirty sanchez. It's a fitting name for that hahaa.
caramel, had a blast man. You guys should try it.
Today I cleaned my beautiful truck and took me like an hour. I took a look at the mud and the ruts were about a foot, maybe more. That's where we all got stuck in 2wd.
The bottom of my truck is sparkly clean and so are my wheel wells. I took a big sponge we had laying around the house and believe it or not, cleaned my frame and wheel wells with it. Tried to get as much mud off of it and since the truck's bottom isn't tightly packed, it looks pretty good down there. My Expedition had a lot going on it and it made it much more difficult.
Ah, and my towhooks were just caked with mud, both of them on the left side haha. I love having that Ranch Hand there. It probably saved my bumper from getting messed up since you can hit it and make it flench.

Looks like you you had good time there. It reminds me of my days of muddin back in the late 80's with my lifted toyota 4x4 with the 22r motor, that thing would root through anything that other truck would not, except for some lifted jeeps. I use ATV quads now for playin in the mud, sooo much cheeper, and they will go places that these things wouldn't dream of going. I ride a sport quad (Honda 450r) but alot of my friends ride utility quads that are 4x4 .You can spend a $100 on a snorcal kit for these things and literally submerg them in water over the handle bars. It would take an awfull lot of beers (15 to 20 watered down Coors Light, 12 pack of Bud) for me to want to do something like that, but it can be done.
