TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "KBB adds insult to injury....", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
"The second-generation Toyota Tundra is the first to match entrenched competitors like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado in size and power. While Toyota hasn’t been playing the full-size pickup game as long as some of its competitors, it’s built a well-earned reputation for quality that benefits the entire lineup."
ALTHOUGH.... more accurately......KBB should have said "...the first to SURPASS entrenched competitors....."

Reason: correction
Slightly O/T
It really makes one wonder if the $700Bil wasn't implemented just for this bailout ?
All the rest of that story is just a smoke screen to set the entire thing up.
GM and Ford both knew where they were heading long before this recession.
I call BS ! let'em CRASH.

+ 1!
If you keep bailing them out, they will keep producing sh@@ty cars.
Plus some CEOs need to sell their private jets and islands (used for corp purposes)
Look at the Saturn, turned out OK, after it was taken off the GM payroll.
And unions did it to them selves asking for a bigger check, better benefits and so on. So CEOs are not the only ones to be blamed.
Sorry, I think it's better now then later, because it's unavoidable.

Im not so sure about just letting them crash. Sure it is their fault, but can you imagine the huge impact it will have on the economy, simply with the amount of unemployment that would proceed after bankruptcy...

I never wanted the bailout to happen at all. First it was for buy mortgages now its going to the banks. If we keep bailing out corporations now in another 5 years they are going to expect another one and then another and another. We are making it the norm for Uncle Sam to bail out these companies and like negra said "I call BS ! let'em CRASH."
Economies all run in cycles this cycle just took a bigger downfall then expected. Just like during the depression it will teach the people of the United States that we need to slow down not try and get everything all at once and hopefully start making products that are once again the best in the world. I get so much crap being in the Air Force about not buying American (my tundra being the biggest target) well I tell them I buy the best and right now that is the TUNDRA!

I'm fully aware of the impact, the Dynasties that have long since ruled the spoiled citizens of the USA need to go away. The old money must be replaced with new.
This was once the United States of America, the recent demise of the Twenty'th Century could never be more confirming as to what this Country has become.
Unions and their affiliates must be eliminated

As of Dec. 15th I will be one of those unfortunate ones.
Capitalism must survive. It will be painful when they collapse, but stronger companies will rise up from their demise. Business needs to be like evolution. The strong need to survive for progress to be made. My buddy is in a panic right now, he just bought a 2008 GMC Silverado 1500 and is worried about getting warranty work done if they go bankrupt. I told him the simplest thing I could....... sell it and buy a Toyota...
If the UAW isn't willing to concede that they've created the demise, and further that they need to stop this insanity and take major paycuts, then it will be on their heads. If I was GM, Chrysler, and Ford, I would ****-can the US factories, and move my factories to Canada and Mexico where the UAW isn't a factor. As to the UAW workers - time to find a new profession. I hear that the nursing industry is begging for people.

Do you want to postpone the crash? It will be more painful later
Agreed on unemployment , however those people will not be left without work. Since someone will buy the big three cheap, reorganize them and make profitable without obligations to UAW. Those people are not the only ones who got screwed up with this crisis.
If we really want to help them, then we would have to sell our tundras and line up at the Ford dealership

Let the unions crash. This is what is holding GM and Ford back. $3,000 per car in benefits. No wonder they can't keep up. If they go BK hopefully they can get rid of the ridiculous benefits packages. Once they go BK maybe this can be accomplished. And if even after BK they can't get out of union mess I support them operating outside of the U.S.

Exactly. The bailout will only postpone the inevitable. They've always said how they'd like to get their operating costs down around where the foreign manufacturers are. Duh! I think it's a little late for that now.
Agreed........someone will purchase the company and make it profitable with lower overhead and no UAW union.
Or, we could just let Oprah buy everyone a Furd then it'll be all back to normal once again. haha

I heard that the average wage (including all benefits, ins.,retirement, etc.) is $80 per hour for Ford,G.M.,Chrysler) and $40 for Toyota,Honda, Nissan. Gee, wonder why their struggling. This isn't a problem that just surfaced, they have been reporting billion dollar losse every quater for ever. If we give them 25 billion $ more, it just prolongs the inevitable. They have got to figure out how to make a profit. I think I heard that ford gm made 22 million $ last year. Things have to change
