Clear Bra Alternative
So I'm chugging along I-20 a couple of weeks ago and an 18 wheeler slings a re-tread and I run over it going 80 mph. Bumper did not survive. Body shop tells me I'd have to wait 90 days for paint to cure before replacing the clear bra. He then offers me a product called ArmorCoat http://armorcoat.armorauto.com/ and I decide to give it a try. It's a spary-on clear bra and can be applied once paintwork dries. I'm pretty impressed with the product -- no visible seams. Blends perfectly with the existing clear bra already above the bumper. I was charged $200 to do just the bumper. Anyone ever tried this? I guess the downside is that replacement would be more labor inrtensive since the material has to be re-stripped before re-applying. We'll see how it holds up.
