I’m currently 2 years into a 4 year lease. I’d like a low rumble sound, but I want to be able to switch back easily to the original exhaust(cat and/or muffler) in case i need to turn in the vehicle. The leasing company can charge me if the vehicle is not returned “factory condition”. So, is it possible to attain a low rumble sound without any welding?
If I knew I was going to purchase the vehicle at the conclusion of the lease I would surely make some nice mods on the truck. I love the truck to death, but I do not know what my job and financial situation will be when I turn in the vehicle, so I’ve got to stay on the safe side for now. Thanks--
The lease thing can be a bit tricky. Never gone through it myself but a LOT of guys i know have leased their vehicles and modded the ever living heck out of em. I think most were using the lease as an "evaluation", decided they wanted to keep it and would buy it.. then the mods went on.
One guy had a leased jeep and really, really modded it. And sold the stock parts to pay for the mods. Lift, new axles, winch bumpers, etc, etc, etc.
Not only did the dealer know it was a lease and just shake their heads, they called him a few months later and said "We've got someone looking for a modded jeep. Wanna trade yours in and we'll give you a brand new one for basically nothing?" So he ACTUALLY got the value of his mods on resale, which everyone knows never happens. But that's an extreme case.
I'd say you'd be safe with bolt on.
Heck, if you just want the rumble would the toyota TRD exhaust be an option? I don't know how the lease agreement would handle toyota branded mods installed by the dealer as it's more money in toyotas pocket anyways.....
My truck is leased and I was told I could do whatever I want to it. As long as you don't give them back "less" of a truck than the original was, you'll be fine. I mean, lets say at the end of the lease, the truck has step bars, performance exhaust, bed cover etc., you will not be penalized for giving them back a better truck. But then again, you'd probably end up buying it anyways.
ours is a lease and we were told as long as it can be returned back to stock, im good. so i have duals on my truck but kept the factory exhaust. the place that did mine says they swap them back all the time, and even though its a welded job, its not noticeable unless you are under the truck and then it just looks like a normal exhaust repair like one would do if they had to have a repair done. all of my mods so far are reversible not sure if we will keep it or not, have another year or so to decide. either way im not concerned.
I have a 2.5 lift on mine and I ll return it with it in... too much money to uninstall it and on my last 3 truck lease returns they never hit you for adding stuff to the truck only damage.
And with the Toyota Lease Insurance for an extra $650 for the 3 yr lease im covered up to $5000 in damages when i return it.
