Hi everyone im a long time reader, first time poster! I finally got a 5.7 RCSB tundra used with 10K miles for 17,500 dollars which i though was a good deal. So i drove it home from the dealership and i am amazed by the power of this vehicle and how fast it accelerates. It was just incredible until the next morning where i backed out and saw a large oil smudge on the ground. I s**t my pants and parked the car back into the driveway. After cleaning the seats and spraying lysol in the car i went under the truck. I found out that the part that was connecting the driveshaft to the transmission had a very small crack in it and sprayed a red oil all over the place( I think its transmission fluid) it was also dripping on the floor. I have contacted the dealer about this and i am bringing the car in to get it fixed. Has anyone else had this problem? Or am i just unlucky for buying a used vehicle.
Sounds like you enjoyed it too much on the way home with it. Nah, just picking. Was it the metal part of the tail of the tranny that had a crack in it or was it a seal? They should be able to fix you up at the dealer. Good luck
Oh and I haven't heard of that problem yet myself.
Yes, but they should be aware of it. Just give them the TSB number and title. Then have them check other TSB's that relate to your vehicle, like the one for the tailgate latch as an example. The should be able to check and see if any have been complied with by checking your VIN number. Unless you have an extended Toyota warranty, most TSB's will expire when you reach 36,000 miles.
Also, make sure they check your transmission fluid level when they are finished replacing your driveshaft. It's hard to say how much fluid leaked out because there is no transmission dipstick.

I took the tundra in this morning and after five hours they gave me a call and said they were going to have to replace the whole driveshaft. The guy also said they have a driveshaft in stock but they were going to have to order it. What does that mean? So how long you guys think it will take before i can drive my Tundra again because i have no idea. Thanks in advance.

It probably means that it is in a nearby warehouse, but not onsite. No more than a day to get it in, I would expect, but don't forget it is a holiday.
