Test drove a DCSB today with the 5.7 and all I got to say is WOW . That thing had some N**s under it. The question i have from all the owners with both the 4.7 and 5.7 is how is the mileage, ride, sound and easier to find goodies for it. I am in the market again for a truck so this would help.

5.7 all the way or you will kick yourself later. Way more power and mileage is just as good or better with the 5.7. I dont understand any advantage with getting a 4.7 other than maybe a bit more $$ saved initially.

Yep, agreed on everything. If you get the 4.7, sooner or later you're gonna be wishin' for some Viagra for it...great, that's gonna offend someone.

It all depends. Do you want a fast truck that can tow 10K lbs? Get the 5.7. Or do you just want a truck to drive to your local 7-11 and get a Big Gulp? Then get the 4.7.
There is a TS member who owns both a 5.7 and 4.7 (current gen). I remember reading the thread where he compares the tow a while back but I can't find it. Maybe someone who remembers can post the link.
I have a 2008 5.7L Double Cab, just came over from owning a 2003 Dodge Ram with a 4.7L. all I can say is the 4.7L ( toy or ram) is way under powering a truck this size. Get the big motor, I spent almost 6 years regretting the 4.7L, don't --'be like mike'.

I got and use my 5.7 to get groceries, refill my 5 gallon water containers, and ocassionally haul lumber. It may be overkill right now, but still, I've got the 5.7. If I decide in the future that i'll be towing 10,000 lbs, i'd still have the 5.7. Plus the red on the badge makes it look all spiffy.

I have the 4.7, I traded a GMC 2500 with the 6.0 for for my Tundra. I really miss the power. Even though I dont haul anything I still wish for the 5.7. Aftermarket parts, upgrades, is real hard to find for the 4.7. How do I talk the wife into trading for a new truck?

The EPA mileage on the 4.7L is 14/17 and the mileage on the 5.7L is 14/18. For the difference it is a no brainer on the 5.7L. Tows more and does not have to work as hard when towing.
