I am about to pull the trigger on a new CrewMax I am having a very hard time weighing my options right now though so I need some help. I am able to get a Limited with TRD package, back up camera, sun roof, and power memory package for about 27,500 after my trade in. I want to put in a aftermarket nav that I can get for around 900. There is also a Platinum one I am looking at that would be loaded out with just about everything for 29,500. What should I do?? How much will I save in resale value on a platinum vs not? is it worth the extra $2000 plus another $1000 so in total it will cost me around $3000 more for it. I need some help with this do I go for the platinum one or not???
When I first heard about the Platinum I thought great I can get a Lexus Tundra. Well if you've ever had an LX470 you will know that the Platinum is not anywhere close to a Lexus. It also costs half as much so no big surprise.
What I found out is the Platinum is actually nothing other than bundling all the options together for a package price. The Platinum is cheaper than the exact same spec'd limited except you get the a/c seats, (the only real platinum feature) which was what tipped me over into the Platinum.
This truck for me is a very useable "truck" that clients feel nice riding in. Plus I spend a lot of time in it so I like the "city" options. I can use it like an Escalade for business but also take it hunting. It of course is a compromise on both sides.
For me I am kind of a one or the other type guy. I either like the Platinum or I would get an SR5. I would generally be happy with both because I feel like I would have equal value for dollars spent. The SR5 is a good truck forthe money.
Where people get hosed is on the dealer add or port options.

I must say, I'm surprised you lifted it, especially on those tires if you use the truck for carting around clients...even on the OEM 22s, an Escalade has a much nicer ride than anything on Baja ATZs!

Yeah, most of my clients are small town Texas folks or they are in the oil and gas industry so they think of a luxury vehicle more as a King Ranch 4X4 F350 rather than a Mercedes S550. I am usually only driving with clients a short distance to lunch so the ride really isn't a big deal. A highway trip would be much more noticeable. 6" lifted trucks with steel bumpers are actually quite common down here because there are so many wealthy hunters and well...This is Texas.
It's funny that you mention the 22's because my other vehicle actually is an AWD Escalade with the OEM 22's and you're right the ride is much much smoother. It's actually much smoother than I expected. I was a little worried about the 22's when I bought it.
Before the Tundra I had an '07 BMW X5 with the 20's and sport suspension, it was definitely smoother than the Tundra but much more rough than the Escalade, much less tire and stiffer suspension I guess. It did feel like it was on rails though.
The weird thing with the MT Baja's is that some days it is a lot smoother than others. Some days it feels like everything is in sync and balanced and others it is pretty stiff and bouncy, like a 3/4 or 1 ton. Don't know if my driving style changes or what.

Ahhh gotcha! Oil patch terrain is definitely rough in comparison. I think I immediately thought "realtor" when you said clients. My fault.
Have anything done to the Escalade? They are my guilty love If they did any better MPG-wise, we would have looked at the EXT as a replacement for the Sequoia we just traded. But several reviews I read said the average mixed MPG with the AWD was 9 My commute is nearly 30 miles each way, and that's just a waste.

In the Escalade I probably average about 13.5 mixed without trying to drive conservatively. I was able to get 20 on the highway one time but I didn't drive over 60 and I was trying to see how good I could get the mileage. It's not as bad as a Hummer but certainly not great. It does do better MPG-wise than my Tundra though. In the Tundra I have been averaging 11-12 mixed driving but mostly highway. I can do better if I try but maybe 15 at best with almost all highway.
I thought real hard about getting a Platinum Sequoia instead of the Escalade but in the end I wanted something a little different than my truck.
