Default question for a co-worker

work with a guy that bought a 5.7 tundra a few weeks ago. he is not a computer person and ask me to post a question on his behalf.

he is considering a custom 2 into 1 exhaust so he can stay with a single tailpipe and will be going with a stainless works chambered round muffler--looks like a powerstick muffler to me--but it's stainless. anyway, he is looking at a 3" in/out but the core is only 2.5".

the question then would be, is a single, albeit non-restrictive, muffler with only a 2.5' center opening enough for proper flow for the 5.7?

i am running dual 2.25" powersticks with an H pipe and my truck runs fantastic. he doesn't want to spend the time and money if he's going to hurt performance.

Doing things half-assed nets half assed results,No ?
If he cant afford to do a 2/2 then he might as well buy one of those boxed systems that cost 3X as much.
As for actually "hurting" anything.I doubt it will but it most likely "will not" sound the way he is expecting.

:shudders:
