I was the lucky guy to purchase the last tundra in Western Canada and it took a week to get it down from up north and I got no deal at all as I had to pay full sticker and no buy-back on the bed liner since I was going to get Line X. I guess I should be happy with the cash back and 1.9% but they did give me the do not pay for 90 days and I got a new windshield too. :^)
In BC and Western provinces, the Toyota Dealers seem to be collaborating on their ACCESS PRICING. No dealer in these provinces are willing to negotiate (similar to Saturn). It seems that from Ontario Eastward, Toyota is more than willing to negotiate.
My best solution (as mentioned before by someone else): goto Carcostcanada's website. Pay the money, find the dealer invoice of the exact model and trim level of the Tundra you are looking for. Add $300-$1000 on the price. Then fax a bunch of Toyota dealerships with an OFFER TO PURCHASE. State that the FIRST DEALER to call you back who is willing to accept your offer will get the sale.
I have done this many times for Hondas, and Subarus. I generally only add $300 to the price and I have gotten an 2004 Pilot, 2008 CRV, and 2001 Subaru Outback this way.
However, when I purchased my Tundra......I went stateside as they were WAY cheaper there when the dollar was almost at par.
Edit: Don't forget to add in all the applicable rebates that CarCostCanada says there are (or what the Toyota Dealerships state). Also put in a maximum documentation fee that you are willing to pay. I state $100 maximum.
IDEA #2: If that doesn't work, look for a dealer (ie GM) that also has a dealership for Toyota. See if their manager (@ GM) is willing to get a Toyota from the other dealer and negotiate with that GM dealer.
Otherwise good luck!

Good advice. I was fortunate when I was in the market that the dollar was near par as the savings by buying in the US were substantial. I suspect that unless you found a super deal in the US, the exchange rate would eat up all the savings...It would be worth look at. There are many threads which show how to get around the restriction on selling to Canadians....
Thanks for all the feedbacck guy's I called a few more dealers within a couple hour drive of me and none of them are really budging on the 09's i am not really looking for a smoking deal i just want them to throw in the towing mirrors and upgrade the tires for me. When i bought my 06 tacoma the paid my frieght and delivery charge upgraded the tire's and all the window visors. So why these other dealership's not move im not sure but i am not in a rush long as i have one by may for camping season. Once again thanks
I don't know if anyone mentioned taking advantage of lease returns or used vehicles. If you can save 30% and get a top of the line Limited model with low miles, even in the US, it's not taking advantage of another's misfortune, it's helping someone out, get a US model used '07 or '08 and you'll be thousands of $$ ahead.

In this economy, you should be getting a smoking deal....Tundrabay had a good suggestion. I bet a used one in the US would be your best bet....Just make sure it has DRL for the import process......

Thanks for the advice
The showroom model hasn't been driven, unlike the one sitting on the lot. Slamming the door isn't a problem IMO

I bought a showroom truck and a bunch of little stuff was missing. People will steal anything! I just went through it and mentioned everything that was missing and they just got it from parts at no charge. I have a few comments on this subject...
1. My buddy just bought his new Sienna from Coer D'elene Idaho. He just called them up and told them what he wanted. They called him back and said no problem. Took his deposit over the phone. They took care of all of the border documents and everything for him. They picked him up at the airport with his new van and they signed all of the paperwork right there in the parking lot! He saved himself 14,000! You have to pay GST wether you buy it here or in the US. Just think, though, you pay the GST on what you paid for the truck, which means that not only do you save on the truck, since the total is less, you pay less GST also! It definitely pays to shop around. I would say there are a whole pile of dealerships in California right now that are sitting on a pile of new trucks and are hurting for sales. It's a nice drive. Even Idaho is only an 11 hour drive from Edmonton. I think it's worth the 14 grand difference. Even the dealerships here in Edmonton won't move very much on the price and the service really sucks.
2. If you can't get them to move on the price of the truck, negotiate a pile of extras into the deal and get it in writing. I didn't get much of a break on my new crewmax since I traded in my 06 dc, but I did get a free spray in box liner, free undercoating, colormatched fender flares at cost, and 500 in free gas worked into the deal. My buddy just picked up a new fj and he got them to throw in LIFETIME oil changes along with a bunch of other stuff. You have to be firm and tell them what you want to make the deal happen and be prepared to walk away if you don't get what you want. They will be more likely to deal if they know you are serious.
Just my 2cents
Hey guys just wanted to let you know i made a deposit on a 09 double cab TRD at gateway toyota they were pretty good they didnt really budge on price but they upgraded me to BFG All Terrian T/A's, threw in towing mirrors, all season mats all at no cost plus then cut me a deal on the lifetime protection package which was really great I thought. Hell of alot better what they would do here in kelowna they would only take $700 off the sticker price so I walked on out of there. So im going out to pick it up in a few weeks. Can't wait to hook it up to the travel trailer this summer and go camping and see how much of a difference it is from my 06 Tacoma.
I was recently shopping for new 08 DC with bench front seat and was told only one available in western canada. I could not get past the bright blue exterior and the dealers reluctance to even take a dime off. Ending up getting a great deal on an US spec pyrite 07 that was brought in by a smaller dealer when the dollar had a favorable exchange. There are still deals out there just need to look harder.
