Default How To Install Rear Swaybar:

This is for the TRD rear swaybar (I assume the others are pretty similar). The directions TRD includes are excellent (probably the best I've ever received with an aftermarket part), so pretty much I'm just including labeled pictures to help you guys find your way. Here you go!

Tools needed: 22mm socket, 19mm socket, ratchet, torque wrench (up to 85 ft-lbs)

Parts needed: you'll probably have to go to a parts store and get 2 new bolts or 2 new nuts (the 2 bolts and 2 nuts they give you for connecting the rearlinks to the swaybar aren't the same thread count)

Be sure and take note of which side of the brake bracket the U-bolt goes on (driver's and passenger's sides are different):

I had some leftover washers, so I added them like you said. But PDF that came with sway bar did not require it. And I had to buy 2 new bolts at ACE hardware store.

Well it makes sence to install the two additional washers on bushings. The top bushing are closed on both sides with washers , then spacer. So i did the same two lower bushings.
But I do have to check mine for position of C Clamps. I THOUGHT it said to center bushing with center of sway bar. If so I am on inside of the drivers side bracket. Not outside. Rone did a nice write up with pics. I am going to have to check the clamp placement in morning.

The extra washers are for tundras without the hitch.

No hitch, then add washers between the upper end link spacer and the frame.

Like this:

That accounts for two (out of the four) "extra washers".

The other two are supposed to go between the nut and the anti-sway bar (on the lower end link).
This isn't noted in the installation manual

Like this:

The above pics also identify the speed sensor line brackets as being brake brackets.

Dam ...How can something so simple be so screwed up. Well looks like I got the bottom washers right that where not listed. But put on a extra top washer that was not needed because I do have the hitch. O well ..I am going to leave it on , I dont see how it could make that much of a difference.
Thanks For info.

I think that's an optical illusion caused by the different angles and distance the photos are being taken from.

I was driving behind a red DC 07 with TRD ANTISWAYBAR AND THE THING LOOKED LIKE IT HUNG way too low and away from differential, looked goofy IMO!

Also what size bolts did you ask for exactly at parts store that would fit correctly?

HELWIG LOOKS LIKE A TIGHTER AND BEEFIER FIT, BUT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT QUALITY OF COMPONENTS?

This write up WAS GREAT AND I THANK YOU FOR CLARITY, especially about where to place those extra washers is great if/when I decide to put bar on my crewmax!!

Rone, I would trash the bolts you bought and purchase "hardened" bolts like the ones supplied. Or purchase the correct hardened lock nuts to fit the hardened bolts they supplied. It may not make a difference, but I'm sure there's a reason they supplied the hardened pieces instead of plain stainless or zinc coated steel. I decided to purchase washers to put between upper end link spacers and the hitch (frame).... and spray the bar black. Other than that, everything was complete in my kit. Great write up! What software did you use to add the arrows and text?

Evol- the torque specs are supplied in the sway bar instructions and seem correct. If I remember, they give you a pretty good leeway on the end link bolts- something like 45 ft-lb +/- 12ft-lb. Don't remember the U-bolt specs off the top of my head. The upper link bolt-to-frame spec is 90 ftlb. I would highly recommend an impact wrench on the frame bolt unless you plan on removing the tire and SAFELY supporting the vehicle to tighten the bolt. It's a little difficult to get in a position to manually torque that thing to 90, especially on the tailpipe side.

The swaybar doesn't really hand down any more than the rear differential. It's closer to the rear of the truck than the diff, so that's probably why it looked lower.

I picked up 2 new bolts at Home Depot because they didn't have any nuts that fit the TRD-included bolts. I think they were M12x1.75x70mm, but if you bring the bolts or nuts in with you they can match them for you.

torque specs are in the included directions. 84 lb-ft for the endlink-to-frame bolts and 48 lb-ft for the endlink-to-sway bar bolts and for the U-bolt nuts. Seemed okay to me.
