Debadged my tailgate yesterday in advance of some paint repair (garage door rash).
Truck is salsa red.
My truck has been pampered - only 2500 miles after 9 months - garage kept. The only significant outside time was at the dealer - 4-5 months (based on build date).
The result was a clear indication of "fading". You can still read "4x4" "Toyota" and "Tundra". It is not dramatic - in the sunlight it is clear. In the garage under florescent lighting or in low light situations, you cannot see it.
Will this "weather" in over time? I did the tailgate so that during the paint repair, I could get a chance to remedy but I really want to do this to the rest of the truck. I'm worried about the "iForce" square and the Tundra logo leaving big sub-clear code fade visible from the profile view of the truck.
By the way. SUPER simple to do. Left the truck in the sun...15 lb fishing line...badges came off in minutes. I little glue to come off with a gloved finger...a bit of polish...a bit of wax...super clean.

My truck is silver sky met. I know it sat on the dealer's lot for 6 months, and I had it around 8 months before I debadged...
No issues whatsoever. The TRD sticker is a PITA, but worth it to get it off. Truck looks clean now!!

Mine is salsa red as well and I had the same problem in the sun. I used a little polishing compund on a buffer pad and now it is gone. Maybe when it is in the shop for the paint work you can mention it to them and see if they would buff them out for you. You can not tell at all now on mine.
i had a dealer sticker on my stang, i took it off and it left a fade (and it was a brand new 08) but i just put a little wax on it and it made it look like it should

Yes the fade will weather in. One of my 5.7 badges had this problem and it's all gone now.

OK, this might help a few who are hesitant.
My 2007 Tundra is currently 2 years, 4 months old and has 42,000 miles.

Last night I debaged the driver's side. I used nylon plumb bob string tied to 2 short construction pencils. The dental floss and 10lb fishline kept snapping. The nylon string worked freaking awesome, it took 2 seconds (really) to get each of them off. Then a couple minutes peeling off the adhesive and a wipe with some goof off took get the residue.
I then washed, dried, and applied a bit of wax to each area...I'm happy to report there is NO outline or shadowing in the paint, what so ever.
Now that I know I'm good to go... on Sunday I'll get the rest of em' off there.

I have black paint.... and I had the stealership take them off before delivery.....
And once their wax wore off, the swirls from them trying to get the adhesive off, about made me vomit....

Got the rest of them today (except for the TRD sticker, still debating).
Good to go, little nylon string and they came right off, little picking and the adhesive came right off, little Goof Off and WD40 and the residue came right off, little washing and waxing and it's like they were never there.
Again, they'd been on about 2-1/2 years and 42,000 miles.

I have an '07 Salsa Red DC that I debadged within the last month. I was a little concerned at first since reds fade the fastest of all colors, and the badges had been on for over two years. But I went ahead anyway because I hated washing/waxing around those suckers. When I got everything off the paint underneath was actually LIGHTER than the surrounding paint. Reading other threads I was confident this color difference would diminish (the covered spots weren't darker, so I was happy). Sure enough, the outlines faded in about a week. And only having used some Goo Gone to wipe away the residuals I can't even tell where the badges were anymore.
Finally found the Round-tuit.
Took off all except the SR5's on the doors.
Did it the same on the '02.
Man Toyota must have been scared 5.7 badges were gonna fly off and hurt somebody.
The whole time I was wishing you could factory delete the badges.
Truck is two years three months old.
I'll see it in daylight tomorrow.
