I know there are a bunch of threads on this topic already but I read through most of them and I have debadged vehicles in the past so it's not a question of how, but should I. I have had the truck for 1 yr + change now and I'm going to debadge it (should have done it earlier, gf wouldn't let me). Will there be fading in the paint? (ie create a contrast) I've heard this is a problem for people debadging too late, esp the 5.7 belt buckle badge.
I was hoping those that have waited a bit to debadge would chime in (pcardinal, what was your end result?)
Thanks fellas,
CT

Well since you already know the back story on mine I'm happy to say it turned out good. No fading. My passenger side iforce badge did leave a square indentation from where the badge was but I seem to be the only case where this has happened. In my opinion it is an excellent thing to do and just makes your truck look sleek. Plus you don't have to worry about water streaks when you drive it after a wash.

My truck is a year old and I removed my badges. No issues other than the TRD sticker being a pain getting off. Kept breaking off in little pieces. Just required a little patience. Looks great now!

You mind me asking what color your truck is? I'm thinking there may be issues based on color because I remember from a long time ago someone mentioning that certain colors clear-coated. That was way back when I first joined the forum, though, so I could be way off, and I'm purely speculating that there could be issues based on color.
ClevelandTundra, FWIW, I want to debadge too, but the wifey won't let me. I may just so it anyway and wait for her to notice.

I want to remove my TRD decals as well but I seem to remember a post where someone stated that the clear coat was applied over the decal. I definitely want to decals off but I don't want to mess up my paint in the process.

Apparently, white Tundras do not have a clear coat (going by your avatar). Mine is black w clear coat and I had no problems taking off all the badges and the TRD stickers. I read of only one person having a problem a long time ago and it was a Salsa Red truck. Many have removed them without any issues.
I debadged after a little over a year and have no indentantions or color fade...I used a method I learned on TS...using fishing line...it was so easy (im pyrite colored)

I need a new word of the month people!
TRD stickers come right off in about a minute. Just warm it up with a hair dryer and it peels right off...... there is no clear coat over it.
Removing the badges after a year is no problem. The paint should not be faded, if it is just use some light cutting polish or even something like Klasse AIO to blend it back. I've de-badged cars that were 5 years old and saw no fading..... it all depends on how the person took care of it.
Some thin fishing line like 10-12lb. test or waxed dental floss will remove the badges very easily.

My truck is Silver Sky. No clear coat over the badge and no fading. A heat gun, 20lb fishing line, and WD-40 work miracles. Just be patient
