Well, my lease mileage is just about at 36,000 miles, and the buyout was alot more than it's worth so i was looking to buy another truck used. My business could use a good looking truck for advertisement sake so i wanted a "big" truck to stand out so a lift and big tires are desired. I found both a chevy K1500 and F150 crew cabs with lift's and 35'' tires and thought about buying one already done up. Well after driving the chev w/5.3L, it was a horrible dog that vibrated badly with a Regency Package on it. Then i tried the F150, even though it's not to the power of the Tundra, it was alot better in every aspect than the chevy was- i was very surprised! So, i joined the F150forums and did some research and asked some questions, wow those people are really dilusional over there and no wonder why ford sells so many trucks, they are just retards! They all post about spark plugs blowing and breaking, trannys failing or not shifting properly and poor fuel economy- BUT THEY ARE ALRIGHT WITH IT??!! Those guys can't wait to change the plugs on their NEW truck when they get them home and are alright with buying different selonoids for their trannys and power chips on a brand new truck they just paid $30,000 for- WTF? They they say at least they don't have the quality/ reliability issues of a Tundra lol. I couldn't take the stupidity over there and telling them so doesn't go over well as they are loyal to a fault- basically because they are tools lol. This just made me realize i really need to keep my Tundra for sure now and lift it as my original plan was to do. Funny thing over there is they say the Tundra ONLY has more power over their Fords and the rest of the truck is junk because it doesn't have their frame strength so it's not truck worthy- wow!

Haha and they say we're the ones with the 'cult blinders' . I love it, is there anything more insane then welcoming and looking forward to making repairs on a new truck? They're like a bunch of lemmings, so long as everyone else has a poorly assembled, prone-to-breakdown truck, it's all good right? Mediocrity seems to be okay over there as long as it's the norm. I'm glad you got your head out of your a$$ and didn't end up making an egregious mistake.

Funny you mentioned ford .Yesterday my kid wanted to test drive the new ford mustang because he liked the looks. So we did. After the test drive my son says .What a pile of s...t .The fit and finish was horrible in the cab,the panels in the cab had huge gaps .especially in the back seat area and seat belt area .As he drove the headliner was bouncing up and down and making noises .The headliner looked like was not properly designed where it meets the back windows. The ride was very noisy and bouncy.Back seat had no leg room at all .I sayd to my son "think about 2 years from now and see yourself in this".He didnt let me finish and sayd:forget about it let 's get out here and go check out the honda coupe. What amazes me he is only 16 years old and notices all this quality issues

Sounds like you raised him right. Any tips for the rest of us?
I personally would not buy an F150, but that is just me. I am on my 3rd Toyota truck, and have never been let down. Those "American" truck guys crack me up. They spend waaay to much time talking trash about how good their stuff is and how we, import owners, should buy American, blah blah blah!!! It's your money, spend it as you wish!!

The irony of it all is Toyota engines are built in Huntsville, AL, the trucks themselves are assembled in Indiana or San Antonio, Texas by American workers in American factories on American soil. How people still try to create a 'patriotic' rift just makes me shake my head. The concept of 'foreign' and 'domestic' vehicles is such an anachronistic way of going about thinking of the automotive market that it can't be taken seriously. The iconic 'HEMI' engine and Dodge Ram truck is mostly assembled in Mexico, but am I hearing cries of Dodge being an import and not Amurrican? What a bunch of garbage.

I am going to buy a truck on the basis of the "fully boxed c-channel" or whatever whatever. Oh, and if some doofus has posted a video about the bed bouncing, that will certainly seal it for me. I'm not going to look at anything like reliability, towing ability, repair history, or how the manufacturer stands behind their vehicle.

Were not all "tools" with "blinders on" over at the Ford Forums. I have to agree that it is unacceptable about the spark plug issue. Model years 97-03 would blow spark plugs out of the engine. They fixed it in 04, but not until 07 did Ford fix the "spark plug not coming out" issue. Of course not all Ford owners had these issues, but many did and ford turned thier back on them; shame on you Ford. All trucks will have problems, my 95 Tacoma blew a head gasket, a major problem with the 3.4 engine. But Toyota did own up and finally paid for it. It eventually was a recall.
I am hoping my 09 F-150 is problem free in the future, time will tell. And yes I love my truck as much as you guys love your trucks. And yes, I would buy Toyota again, or a GM, (not a dodge, but thats another story) or any other vehicle I felt was the best for me at the paticular time.
I am not trying to make enemys here, but please; all Ford owners aren't stupid tools.

Stick around long enough and you might make believers out of a select few...about not all Ford owners being tools

I need a new word of the month people!

it's more about being non union than it is about where it's assembled to many people. I'm driving a Dodge right now and am afraid to buy a toyota because I don't want the hassles of it being vandalized in the parking lot of where I work.
I don't care what anyone says if it's man made it's not bulletproof it will require repair to some degree but yeah you shouldn't be happy that you have to mod your truck out of the gate and Ford's propoganda over the frame issue is stupid.
The tundra has had issues. It's not anything anyone here denies But the big difference at the end of the day is that the Toyota value doesn't leave you 10k plus in the hole if you decide on a new truck in a couple of years

have a good one
Actually very good point about the Union. I think it's the unmentioned factor; no one wants to really take ownership of this problem, while some blame the problems of FoDoGM on their unions, other want to blame management, or engineering department, or government regulations, or whatever; clearly the well-paid bolt-turner has some role to play in the cost to produce a Ram vs. a Tundra. But it's not the whole story.
There's also a perception that if you buy a Dodge, you're helping the US of A, and if you buy a Toyota, your hurting. That's plain crazy, with the global markets and investment; any investment company can put money wherever they want globally, and the dollars follow the smart money: money owes no allegiance to any flag.
Sadly, such logic will not hold much water where emotion rules the day, and I'm sorry for you that you have to drive, what to my mind is an inferior truck, due to concerns about the hassles at work.
Are unions the cause or the solution to our problems? Unions are important to ensure working conditions we can all live with. But when a union becomes a shield for a worker to do f*ck all and be paid well for it, can't be fired or promoted for merit but only based on seniority, then I think a union has outlived its usefulness. As you correctly state, moparman, it's an issue of perception of turf protection, and we're stuck with it for now.

Is there anything more UN-AMERICAN than having to spend your hard earned money on anything but what YOU want? And the last time I checked, we are still considered a 'capitalistic' country and there's nothing more American than some good ol' competition and may the best man win...I'm sorry moparman that you can't buy what you want because of 'turf' protection, how inane...
