If You Know Anything About Headlights PLEASE Help!!!! - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

So I attempted to do the Painted Headlight Mod today and somehow managed to melt the ENTIRE clear plastic covering, so now I have to replace it. I obviously cannot go very long driving with one functioning light and one ridiculous looking melted light so I need to replace it ASAP. I called Toyota and a single headlight replacement is $290...not happening. So I looked online and decided it's probably best to just replace both with a brand new HID set(or something similar) the only problem is i know nothing about this subject.

So does anyone have any experience with a pair that they like and/or have pictures of them. I'm pressed for time so any help at all would be awesome.

$290 for a headlight assembly is cheap.

There are tons on ebay. I bought one myself for $70.

Don't buy the cheapo projector headlights. Just replace the one you messed up, and retain the stock look.

how did you melt it? too long or too high a temperature? or both?

NO idea it was only in for maybe two minutes at 250?!?!

There must be something wrong with your stove. That couldn't melt the lens...

Did you put the headlight lens down, directly on the grille?

well it did...idk how because i have a Viking range which is apparently top-of-the-line?

I'm thinking about getting these, does anyone know anything about them?

nope did it exactly how it was done in the "tutorial video"

Folks have complained that the light output from those...umm...housings are dimmer than stock. So, they end up installing an HID plug and play kit, even though the projectors are made for halogens, not HIDs.

Cosmetically, in my opinion, they are tacky in appearance, overly busy, and cheapen the look of the truck. JMO.

Get a $2 temp gauge and verify that fancy oven's temp. There's no way 250 degrees for 2 minutes would do that.

x2... ive done the mod on my truck and on my old tacoma. We did it at 325, turned the oven off, and put the housing in there for 10 mins

well thanks for all the help but someone on another forum was so graciously willing to send me a spare headlight cover, so i won't even need to replace them!!
