Just like most of you guys I am finally doing my exhaust on my 09 tundra 5.7l. I want to do 2 flowmaster super 40's split out either side of the bed. however I know that they have to Turn or invert the mufflers to make both of them fit on one side of the truck. my question is, does this effect ground clearence? I really want "true Dual" exhaust but i dont want to mess up the ground clearence and bang up my new mufflers ever time I go off road. Anyone who has done true dual have an answer? anything helps guys, thanks.
Any time you have a true dual setup you will want an X pipe before the mufflers anyway to equalize the exhaust gas pulses from either side of the motor to promote better flow so you get better power and better sound.
For mine, we chose not to do the traditional X pipe, but rather a Magnaflow dual in/ dual out muffler with the Tru-x core which sounds amazing.
We used a muffler like this, I wish I had a cutaway view, it is a badass muffler with an internal crossover MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust
and it turned out like this

So, I just got off the phone with a couple exhaust shops and one said that the 2 muffler set up will actually cause the sensors to throw a Check Engine code. Is this true? He also said that it would free things up to much and could hurt the engine in the long run along with performance.
Not likely. No check engine codes should show as long as they dont mess with the oxygen sensors and the cats..... He doesnt know what he is talking about. You may lose some low end if your exhaust completely removes back pressure, but hey...its your dime. I just got a magnaflow installed and a custom 3" pipe bent to one exit. Sounds great.....was cheap...

no. as stated above, only if you mess with those sensors. i'd thank that gentleman for showing his ignorance and getting him off your list of places to get it done haha. ive had two flowmaster mufflers on my truck with true duals for over 24k miles and no issues at all. had it done right after i got the truck

what DCwhite posted is what im looking for, thats what is considered "True Duel". Im just hoping i get the sound i want, I like setting off car alarms but still have a conversation inside, and not alot of popping and crakeling.
You are wasting your time with flowmaster. Do yourself a favor and SEARCH TS for Powersticks. Then SEARCH Youtube for Tunda + Powersticks.
I have done a search on both already and they really dont do if for me. Powersticks do have a good sound just not the one im looking for, i like the sound of flowmasters, I have had them on all my other rigs and friends have had them on theirs and we all have never been dissapointed, thanks for the tip though.
