Re: The "Official" 5.7L Supercharger Problem Thread
Good luck getting anywhere with trd. Hope you guys don't keep getting the run around. I would hire a lawyer and take the dealer that sold the s/c to court. That would get toyota to listen.

Sounds like they may be actually doing something with the re-flash. Maybe my forum posts on MT/TT worked!!
I'm taking credit for this by the way if they do release it in the next few days...

Seeing as how I am the dealer that installed the S/C, I do not recommend that option. Toyota is listening and Toyota is in the process of getting it handled.
For someone that is all giddy over Dodge, you are sure spending a lot of time in the Tundra Forum. Thanks for your input though!

I AM giggy over some dodge products. I am also giddy over any fast vehicle. I am not brand loyal. I like ram srt's and lightnings, and IF you and toyota can work out the bugs with your s/c MAYBE I'll like a tundra.
If all people that own tundras acted like you, I'd never own one.

Re: The "Official" 5.7L Supercharger Problem Thread
well, i can't help but believe and hope that a re-flash is coming but, i wish i still believed in santa clause and the easter bunny too......regardless, i'm still being patient and hoping. i want to drive my tundra again! and....i've still got my other tundra to s/c as well!
i wonder though.....while we're at it....you guys think it would be a too much to ask toyota for a free wash/wax/detail coupon or something??? a trd ball cap?? or....a free weekend in vegas maybe??

I just don't see trd saying this and it not going to happen.
Re: The "Official" 5.7L Supercharger Problem Thread
Guys, IT IS HAPPENING. I've sold so many of these chargers probably more than anyone else. There is no way that I'd be telling all these people that there is a fix and then it not happen. Just be patient, its coming very soon.

Re: The "Official" 5.7L Supercharger Problem Thread
I might be wrong, but it seems alittle suspicious that TRD did not include a Boost Gauge in the SC kit. This would have made it alot easier to troubleshoot any problems. They have to make sure that their product works Globally (For R&D purposes, run one truck in the U.S and another in Canada). Another typical company, that only sees, the enviroment in which they live.
Money = Global Sales

Re: The "Official" 5.7L Supercharger Problem Thread
hi, for your own info, any mod such as turbo's, s/c'ers, unchip, & or any other mod that change's air/fuel, & timing rario's. need to have a specific tune to there area to work best.
there are people who live where the air is thin, and other's where the air is thick & heavy, or heavy moisture. there has to be some fine tuning.
this is my opinion, & think many would think the same.
i think this has alot to do with some of the trd issue's. because some say they have zero issue's. as to where other's are flooded with issue's.
no matter for the total cost, trd & toyota corp should address all concerned.
it is in there best interest to do so.
since there are so many that are P.O.'ed, with good cause.
good luck people, i wish you all the best in getting this done sooner than later.
wishing & hoping,
gorilla
P.S. i wonder that the effect will be when the 1year warrenty on the trd s/c is over? humm....
just something to think about, this is why everyone with a trd s/c should open a case# for the trd s/c. this way when & if you continue to have a issue it has been well documented.
Re: The "Official" 5.7L Supercharger Problem Thread
Well, I can only agree with the many posts on having to re-tune yourself. Unfortunately, Toyota did not make this easy.
I learned how TRD works when I did a S/C project on my 4Runner. '97 4x4 3.4L with:
-deck plate mod, amsoil filter
-Supra injectors
-VB and TC upgraded, LVL10
-Gray gen S/C
-Greddy Ultimate computer
-Supra MAF sensor
-Downey OR headers, ceramic
-Jardine exhaust, ceramic'd by Performance Coatings
-Guages-A/FR, OP, FP, EGT, Boost
-LM1 O2 sensor and guage permanently installed
I read everything I could find on the TRD superchargers and all the gripes and such. I knew going into it that TRD has NEVER put a S/C on the market that fully did what it was supposed to do. The whole reason we will never get a "fully blown" solution is the same reason we should "never" mod our vehicles...warranty. TRD knows that if they implemented a full, proper kit, your engine, transmission and other parts would wear out and Toyota would have a ton of warranty claims, as they did when the first S/C's were installed....improper installations and hard driving resulted in nice new engines and transmissions having to be installed. Now we get neutered , somewhat half-a**ed bolt ons, but we all know this going in! I trust that none of us were surprised at these issues with the V-8 charger??? TRD is NOT going to fix this to our ultimte satisfaction, they won't now that they are part of Toyota and Toyota will never allow it b/c of the warranty issues that would come up.
Mod at your own risk, enjoy it and forget about any warranty coverage if you want a REAL solution.

Sounds like you may have a good point Drag. So what you're saying is that if someone with a s/c had it "re-tuned" elsewhere from Toyota, this would void their warranty?
I assume that you're probably not going to get the s/c?
As a native from Hawaii (much warmer than 55 degrees ) I don't anticipate experiencing that cold weather power cut-off that most on here are complaining about. I simply plan to just wait till the end of the year and see what the overall consensus is about the "re-flashed" s/c then. Regardless, it's still somewhat discouraging for me to read that fellow Tundrans are experiencing this problem, cold weather or not. I hope that the problem gets resolved soon and look forward to reading more satisfied s/c owners within the months to come.
