Default Using Coolant

When i changed the oil for the first time(4000 miles) my coolant was at the low mark, so i fill it up.

I just changed my air filter at 12,000 miles and i saw that my coolant was at the low mark.

Is it normal to use some coolant as the miles go by, or do i have a problem. I've never seen any leaking on the ground and can't smell it.

Mine was at the low mark (cold) when I got it new, and it's still at the same level now.

That should be the cold level and the high one is the hot level , it may pump it out the over flow if the level is to high.

Mine had a slight coolant leak when new. There is an engine block drain petcock on the right side of the block and mine was leaking. It was slow enough that it never made the floor wet. It dripped down on the skid plate and evaporated while driving. I first noticed it when I did my first oil change and dropped the skid plate. If you look over the top of the right front wheel after lifting the rubber splash guards, and using a flashlight, you should be able to locate the petcock. It is about in the middle of the block beneath the exhaust manifold. If it is leaking it will also show up on the skid plate.

hi although i have a 4.7 2005. i have never ever needed any coolant.
it has been at the top and my res. has stayed the same since new. now i used to have a temp of 188degree's. i bought a additive that was suppose to lower the temp up to 20%. but it didn't. but what it did do is lower it to 184, and at it's highest so far 186.
i think it cost me 10. i don't know why or how it work's, but it did lower it a little.
but i never lost any. it isn't suppose to evaporate, or loose any ,unless there is a leak. you might find the leak by using a black light.

let the dealership know, they can pressure test it, BUT PLEASE have them be very careful. i have known some people that have had there's tested & they popped the radiator, hose, etc. due to them pumping way to much air pressure into the radiator cap.
good luck,
gorilla
