Good info on the mirror Dawg!

I'm starting to get a very annoying creak (or more like a rattle) coming from the driver side of the dash near the windshield. It doesn't do it all the time and I'm still trying to find a pattern as to when it happens. The TSB only refers to the passenger side.

Anyone else having problems on the driver side?

Ya, the TSB only states the passenger side, but the clip they use on the driver's side is the same part # as the one on the passenger side. So if it failed on the passenger side, it stands to reason it will fail on the driver's side as well.

The new ones are noticeably different, and are angled upwards more and are thicker. Just go and order one (or two). they are only $5ea.

I know where you're coming from. To have to spend 28K on up for a vehicle that creaks and rattles is ridiculous. I have had to go back twice now for my 07' tundra sr5 double cab and have the front plastic cowling on the outside of my truck below the wipers replaced since the last 2 winters during cold outside, the plastic whole length of the cowling would creak and pop continously over bumps. They had to replace the cowling, install better clips supposedly, and installed double sided tape between the plastic cowling touching the windshield due to vibration causing popping noises. It only does the same popping noise ONLY a few times driving it now, but still is not 100% fixed, but better than it was when it would pop over every bump in the road which was driving me nuts. Time will tell after this next winter after my warranty is up if it acts up worse again. I read somewhere else that the retaining clips holding the windshield in place had to be cut off with hacksaw since they were making that same creaking/popping noise I am having on occasion and am considering to go back and ask them about this also.

I had a little popping noise next to the little plastic triangle connecting the drivers window, door and column. The plastic crease would rub, so I put a drop of crazy glue on it and that stopped it.

BUT my dash rattle (somewhere in the middle of the dash near the NAV I think) is NOT the mirror cover and it isn't temp dependent. It's driving me nuts.

I noticed the same exact creak the day I bought my 08 CM. I was freaking out thinking it was the nav unit. I had my wife listen for it while I drove and come to find out it was the mirror also. Easy Fix.

You really need to go drive a GM vehicle to know what creaks and squawks are.

What is the "easy fix"- new mirror or mess around with the wire cover sleave?

I cannot agree more!!!
My 03 Silvy was rediculous.... everything creaked... grabbing the door handle to shut the door... driving over un-even surfaces made the dash front panel's snaps nearly pop out...x10 worse on cold days... hell, even turning the steering wheel made the column creak...

It could be different on the new body style, but this Tundra is x100 better in both hot and cold... Other than my right knee occasionally hitting the dash and creating a creak, my truck is creak free..

It's not my mirror wire cover. I removed the top piece entirely and still heard the noise coming from the dash.

I thought the creak was coming from behind my nav too but it wasn't it was the top wire cover for the homelink mirror. Merely pushing it in did not do the trick, it did initially but it kept on creaking again. I bought some weather stripping, cut a small piece and put it in the inside of the top cover. Problem solved.

I don't think you understand, I removed that piece and while that piece was in my hand, I still had the creaking.
