Default RCSB behind seats

Hey guys,

There are some awesome looking RCSB's runnin around on this site, and many people with great ideas.

What are you guys doing behind your 2 door's seats?

Some ideas that I want to incorporate behind there are:
1: carpeting the platform ($50, local audio shop quote)
2: A custom box built for a Sub behind there
3: I want a nice little storage compartment because I hate stuff sliding around in my truck

I'd like to see some of your guys takes on your massive platform behind the seats in your reg cab

-Tim

I want to retain space as well, I was thinking a type of storage box that could also hold a sub (hidden) and there would still be open space left on top of the box for groceries, or whatever else I might have inside the cab.

I hope that made sense, it makes sense in my head.

Cool a thread I can really show some input on. I put together what might be the loudest (still sound quality for the most part regardless) sub setup in a RCSB or current gen Tundra. It was three 12" Type R 12s in 6.55CF gross(4.5CF NET) with formulated ports tuned to 33HZ. I saw formulated because most ports or done with guesswork but I've build enough boxes I know how much port you need for the surface area of drivers and amplifier power. I had three Lanzar 1200D amplifiers delivering 3800 watts RMS @ 14V which was enough to smell my equipment but I never ruined any of it. It weighed 300LBS with the 60LBS largest available Optima yellow top battery and overly braced box. It's was retardedly loud! It required pulling the center console to lay in the box and also some muscle. Definetly enjoyed it for the last year and a half.

I've actually downsized it recently to a single Type R 12 and 1265 watts RMS which is still quite impressive but not the kind of thing that scares people right out of the cab. If you guys want help designing a ported box for your regular cabs let me know. I can even give a cutlist and adjust the tuning design to be more sound quality or more peak output(SPL).

Dan, no wonder you're on the internet... probably have trouble hearing when ppl talk to you !

Nice looking set up. I honestly could never imagine that much about a foot from my head lol

I had a Kicker L5 sub in my Expedition with the Mach audio sound system and just stock that's the best sonud system I've ever heard (POWNS all Toyota/Lexus and even better than the Audi TT's Bose system).

The small strong cabin was nice and the transfer function was amazing. It played high bass so well as well as subsonic low evenly. This was almost like wall sub setups in transfer function. Definitely a good vehicle for an aftermarket system. Honestly my single 12" Alpine Type R and 1265WRMS will blur your vision more than just noticeably and plays amazing sound quality wise. I'm a master at making cutlists for those with enough motivation to throw one together. I can tell you how I put mine together since the equipment should be pretty standard garage stuff.

Jeepnuts311: I can figure a low profile but full width(leaving room for the jack to still be accessed) high performance ported box. You figure where it should leave space and I'll tell you how to make it. It's kind of amazing talking to someone with the same vehicle as me and asking for a custom box. I've always dealt with people online that have vehicles I've never built for so I just look at their raw dimensions and see what sound you can make with them. Definitely if you want a truly high gain box with ports that put out all that physics allow and is the dimensions you want I'll put something together.

The only thing I did was put my two ten inch subs from my previous truck back there. I can still put stuff back there so long as nothing touches the actual speaker.

I've done a sound meter test to find forward firing is actually a small degree louder across most any frequency. Back firing in these cabs is also fine but you have to leave that extra 1-2" of air between the back of the cab and the subs that you can't use. You put those same subs in a forward firing ported box and you could expect nearly double the performance and a more custom fit without giving up any additional space.

Have you tried reversing the polarity of the sub which is furthest away from the driver's seat? I had Bazooka tubes a long time ago and found this helped because of the propagation delay (phase shift) from the passenger's side sub as the sound travelled to the driver's side and otherwise caused some destructive interference with the bass from the driver's side sub.

I put two 10 inch subs and a Zapco amp, but they built the box so that i still have tons of room back there to throw a gym bag or groceries or whatever.

Thanks for the info. I actually don't want to spend any money on a sub box right now though. When I stand those boxes up and hit the breaks they slide around a lot so I just laid them down. They sound good enough for me like that.

I installed 2 tweeters on the rear pillars to balance the sound out a bit. Worked good. FWIW

Pictures? Did you cut holes to mount them or just stick them to the plastic somehow?
