Default Cheap (but effective) cupholder mod

One of my only complaints so far about this truck was the big sloppy cupholders in the center console. Anything but a mega extreme super size holy smokes cup would thrash around like crazy even on pavement.

So here is my solution, 1/2" x 5/8" adheasive bulb seal weatherstrip. We use this stuff to seal toolbox lids in my fab shop. You will need roughly 18" of it and you just simply rip it and stick it. Total cost is maybe a buck.

Enjoy!

(sorry about the crappy cell phone pics but you get the idea)

I love the truck, but the cupholders are crazy. Off to the hardware store on the lunch break

I had my truck for a whopping 12 hours before my coffee decided to want to be in the other console cupholder.

Any ideas how this is going to hold up in the summer? Does it get all sticky and slip due to the heat?

I actually found the cupholders to be too small. But good idea. This is a real mod.
May I suggest you offer this to members since you have ready supply to the stuff and it is probably much better than home improvement stores in quality.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised to find they'd hold my regular 64-oz drink fare. The cupholder has to be a U.S.-only add on.

To the Japanese, that's like a week's worth of fluid, which is why for years all Japanese cars had teeny-tiny cupholders.

Not That I have seen, we stock it in 1000' rolls black only.

It should be fine although not 100% sure yet since we got 4" of snow here today But we use this stuff for all kinds of doors / lids on commercial truck mounted equipment and it does use the 3M adhesive.

Definitely another big plus

This stuff should not be that hard to find locally, and would prolly cost me to send it than its worth. You would likely have better luck finding it at a metal fab shop or maybe a RV parts place than the hardware store.

Like the OP said, "Bulb Seal" or "Weather Stripping".
Found mostly at RV parts places "Camping World" has it...But I've also seen it at Walmart in the hardware section.
