Default Help with bed cover

My tundra already had a undercover bed cover and a bed rug when I bought it.

This is my first bed cover and I love it and the bed rug. I target shoot on a regular basis and keep my gear back in the bed in rubermaid pull-out boxes.

My only complaint is the undercover looks goofy on my tundra. It is a CM limited and is the silver color. The entire truck is silver or chrome and the bed cover is black and dosen't go with the theme.

My Brother in law has a black CM and offered to buy mine.

I would do a color matched cover but I would always be worried about scratching it. I also would like to have the ability to put larger items back there.

This leads me to the retractable covers. Right now i am leaning towards the pace edwards jack rabbit.

I have read sever of you guys have this cover. Is it decently water tight?? Does it FAde?? How hard is the install?? and where is the cheapest place to order it from??

I found this for 850.00 Is it missing anything??

Default Re: Help with bed cover

I had a Pace Edwards retractable (I forget the model) on my '03 Taco. Install was as easy as any other system out there. Downsides were slight loss of use of bed area due to the roll up box, and I could never get it 100% water tight. Upsides were the retractibility. Mine began to fade after about 2 years, but I didn't regularly care for it either. I have zero experience with the jackrabbit on a Tundra, but I'd bet you could find lots of info in the Tonneau/Bedcover forum.

Just my opinion, I'd rather have something that works great and looks OK, as opposed to something that looks great, but limits my functionality. I know looks are important, moreso to some. But that's what makes the world go 'round.

I installed a new Undercover on my silver DC just a few days ago. I have the color matched Sequoia handles, stainless steel step tubes, chrome bumpers and silver steel wheels. I'm even thinking about removing the black vinyl between the windows. The only black parts are the tires, tow mirrors, bumper plastic pieces and the Undercover tonneau. I think the black tonneau looks great. Best of all it keeps stuff dry and reasonably secure. I can't imagine yours really looks that goofy. I'm sure you have some other black on your truck. Pretty sure the Undercover matches the tires. I'd keep it.
