Nice, so when are you going to head up to Bandi? We should meet up so I can check out your beast.

I want to do one of the CSP "Run it at the track" nights (Wed nights) one of these weeks...I'll post up on the Colorado subforum when I do.

I am sorry there is so much confusion over the MAP sensor or no MAP sensor thing.

The fuel tuning table for the URD MAF Sensor Calibrator is a true 3 dimensional high resolution table. One axis is engine RPM and the other axis is engine load indicator. Then each cell is the amount of signal change you want to the MAF sensor signal.

For the load scale indicator we have three choices. One is manifold pressure. The more you push down the throttle the higher the pressure becomes in the manifold. With a forced induction system the pressure in the manifold will go above ambient and you are in boost. To read the manifold pressure you will need a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor.

The next is we can tap into the throttle position sensor. The more you push down the throttle the higher the voltage will read in the throttle position sensors circuit.

Lastly, is using the flow signal from the MAF sensor. The more air entering the engine, the higher the voltage will read in the MAF sensor signal circuit.

On all the other vehicles we market products for and tune, the ECU is mounted in the dash and it is real easy to wire our tuning solutions into the ECU harness or use one of our ECU jumper harnesses to plug the devices in. The 2nd Gen Tundra has the ECU sticking out of the firewall and it is a little tough to get at it and wire things into it. To make things simple we came up with a very simple way to wire the URD MAF Sensor Calibrator. We can wire it right into the wire harness that goes to the MAF sensor. Very simple connections and it works great.

In this installation method it is very simple to use the MAF sensor signal as the load scale indicator since you are already connecting to that signal wire anyway. For this you do not need the more expensive MAP sensor version.

Or, if you want to use the MAP sensor version all you have to do is connect the unit's vacuum line to the engine manifold.

MAP sensor or no MAP sensor, either way it will work just fine. It is nice to have options.

Thanks Gadget! Just for reference, my MAF calibrator is hooked up using the MAF signal as the load scale indicator. I do not have the MAP option on my calibrator.

Hope this clears things up for some folks...

Just got my MAF CALIBRATER tuned buy dyno4mance near ATL.Ga.On the Dyno dynamics dynamometer. The tuner/owner said it shows about 15% less Hp than a dynojet.Baseline was 436.4 tuned map to about 10.6 AFR.then it put down 456.9 I am happy with that.I can feel the extra power but feels sluggish when i floor it at 70+What do you guys think?

Do you mean it is sluggish for the initial couple seconds after you floor it, or just generally less powerful over the long term, at higher speeds?

Just the first few seconds and maybe just a little less power.

From what I have read, those devices usually end up leaning down the air fuel mixture. Maybe the leaner operation has diminished your accelerator enrichment or "pumpshot" so it is not as effective as it might be. This is the ECMs extra shot of gas into the engine when it detects a sudden transition in throttle to get the engine to respond....or "giddyup" as some folks in the southern US might say.

You could be right. It just seems to take a split second longer to build up speed than before.

Try setting the maps back to stock and see if it improves. If it does and it turns out this is the problem, there are some piggyback controllers that have controllable pumpshot. Maybe one will come out for our trucks too and you can have the best of everything at all speeds. In the mean time maybe you can run some more tests and determine which setting you like best, i.e. maybe some quarter mile times.

Awesome numbers! Not sure about it being sluggish at 70+?? Could be a function of the tune - there are basically infinite ways to tune the thing - with all of the different values that can be entered in the thousands of tables.

I never noticed anything but improvement after my tune - I continue to be blown away by the speed of this thing.

beboff - Congrats on the tune - now go break into the 12's!!!

Numbers look great. Did you use a longer piece of tubing? Where did you mount it?
Picture would be nice. The SC picture in your album shows two boost connections on the passenger side, mine has only one and it is located on the driver's side. I wonder why TRD did that? Anyways, is there any benefit of using the MAP sensor over not using it?
(This question would be directed to the tuner guys you used.)

Thanks
