Yeah I like Toyota's decision to build this engine. It makes solid power and is strapped to a 6 speed. Guaranteed that thing is going to get much better mileage than our trucks. Especially in traffic and city driving.

Oh, don't joke my brother to the north. He's coming for us all. You just wait... his ridiculous CAFE standards will kill any 1/2 ton that doesn't get at least 20mpg. The 4.6 will be the "big" engine. It's just a matter of time. A friend of mine advised me to look at 2012 as the time to buy because that will be the cutoff date for our 5.7's due to mpg ratings. Hopefully by then we'll get a president who doesn't feel the need to belittle and apologize for our country as often as he can, and who understands that this country was built on the small business man and his pickup. Nevertheless, I don't see anyone rescinding any CAFE standards regardless of their party affiliation. Or maybe everyone will stop making 1/2 tons in favor of 3/4-1 tons so they'll fly under the CAFE BS standards.
....but don't forget we already have 5.7s now and they will still be relatively new in 2012. I won't be giving up mine if the newer engines can't beat my current 0-60.

Totally agree. The days of half tons pulling 10k are very limited. 3/4 & 1 tons will be the future pulling vehicles. Hey maybe this will edge Toyota into making one.
