I have liked the Dodge Ram for quite a while and even wanted one before the Tundra but my Toyota Loyalty drove me to Purchase the Tundra (dont understand me wrong.. i do not regret doing so in any way.. i love my truck and its possibly my favourite vehicle of all the ones i've owned)...
BUT... Ever since i got it; i've been eye balling the Ram and with the debut of the new and vastly improved truck and the addition of the coil spring (a feature which suits me since i dont believe i ever did/will tow in excess of 10,000LBS) - It has definately drawn my attention... A Freind of mine has been nagging on me to sell him the truck so i considered the Ram and went to check it out today..........
I dunno what the Tundra did to me but i just did not like it to the extent that i was like wow u know? it was just normal, like any domestic truck out there.. yes the interior is vastly improved but not amazing.. you can still hear a hollow sound when knocking on the surfaces and plastics are still allover; its just the leather stitching and all covering up any quality flaws giving the 'Luxury' impression Dodge praise themselves for!
The Truck is STUNNING from the front; it commands presence with that huge, down facing grille but from the sides and the back; all the rest.
No shock absorber in the bed (a feature i really like in the Tundra)..
To be honest the only thing i considered an advantage over the Tundra was the body toughness..
One thing which i HATED about the Ram is the truck's new smell.. lol its a disaster, smelt like a kid threw up in there 2 weeks ago and nobody found out about it yet!!!
The one i looked at was a Laramie Crew Cab - the one i was considering was the Sport Mega Cab in Deep water Blue...
The salesmen @ Dodge were dying to trade me for the Tundra and were trying to convince me how much better the Dodge is all-round (kinda pissed me off to be honest lol - they only concentrated on ride and quality) - I might do a test drive some time soon but i highly doubt i will get one; not the 1500 atleast.. Maybe if i do i will wait for the 2010 PowerWagon - (apparently a 6.2L will be offered w/like 440BHP or so)
When i got back into the Tundra and drove off, i just sensed a feeling the Dodge didn't offer; i felt like i was driving the best truck in the world and i thought to myself; it IS true when its reffered to as "the truck thats changing it all" - That it is.. It REALLY is; and i love it :P
(i got a little emotional writing this lol but its the truth)
Just thought i'd share my experience with anyone Considering a Ram or any replacement for the Tundra;.. My advice to you is.. Don't Bother; you won't find a replacement (unless its a newer/upgraded Tundra) - Trust me on that

6.2 liter, a new cummins?
rams are great, I love my 06. If you ever need to tow 35,000# then a dually with that beautiful cummins turbo diesel, oh and if you're a fan of stacks, rams are the way to go.
The interior on my tundra is awesome, much better than my ram.

Not to hijack the thread, but to further pat ourselves on the back for being Tundra owners: I was at my parents house last week for a visit - in town for a buddy's wedding. My folks bought an 09 Silverado LTZ a few months ago with just about all the bells and whistles. The LTZ is kind of like Chevy's Limited - leather, etc, etc, but without the full-on Denali package. Now it was a nice truck, don't get me wrong, but I was amazed at how solid it didn't feel compared to the Tundra. I get annoyed when I hear a rattle hear and there once in a while, but I couldn't believe the number of rattles coming from that truck or the sort of "cheap" feeling it had while driving. We really do have nice trucks in the Tundra.

Ford still own Cummins? When does the contract with Dodge end so that Fords start showing up with Cummins? Seems I read 2010, could this be the last year of the Cummins in a Dodge?

Cummins is owned by cummins, common error, so common go to cummins website and go to their FAQs page and they clearly state that ford does not own cummins.
As for the Titan deal, nissan was supposed to build Chrysler a car based off of the nissan versa, and Chrysler was going to build the Titan for nissan. Now with the bankruptcy who knows, fiat is already promising a 40+ mpg for Chrysler so don't know if they need the versa build.
And if ford did own cummins, why would they ever have loaned it out and gone with a powerstroke. Ever seen the bumper sticker " I'd rather be cummin than strokin"

Good bumper sticker!
As for Cummins and Ford, Ford did own 15% of Cummins in the early 90s, Cummins bought all the stock back before the end of the decade. Probably where the rumor came from.
Sort of like Ford and Mazda, Ford owns (owned) a chunk of Madza which is why Mazda built the Ranger... does the Ranger still exist? Hmmm.

All this Tundra love and mine has been at the shop since Monday gettingg rust spots fixed from a faulty battery... I miss my truck. I had to ride in my friends F150... WOW speed bumps seem to be mountains by comparison, and he has a lift! Anyone want to lend me their truck till I get mine back? Preferably one with a supercharger...\\\

I read now that Fiat owns Dodge, and they already own Nissan, that the Titan will be built at one of the Dodge plants.
Fiat does not own Nissan. Nissan merged with Renualt and now that Fait owns dodge the deal to build titans on the dodge truck platforms is off. As Fiat and Renualt are bitter rivals.

Yeah ford sold a big chunk of their position in mazda a half year or so ago. I thought the ranger was extinct.
One more bash at ford, a great way to shut a powerjoker up other than racing him is ask why in the F450 and up do they offer CAT and Cummins motors. Also what's up with a V8 diesel, inline is the best way.
