I have a Tundra DC 5.7 Liter 4x4 long Bed 20 inch rims Nitto 275/65/20's
Does anyone use the tow haul mode when there towing? I tow almost everday, and definitley noticed more power, or something. But I also noticed my gas mileage was less than when I tow without the tow haul mode on. Just wondering what people have to say about it?
oh yea i also put a 3/1 ready lift kit on with those nittos. I am talking about my experiences prior to the mods. I used it a few times (the tow haul feature) but then just stopped using it. Should I be?
The Tow/haul mode will give you different shift points for the load. I use it when I have max payload and other say to use it with a 5000 lb trailer.

Tow-haul does not give you more power when towing. It changes the shift points in the trans that supposedly translate into a better towing experience. I always use it.

If I recall correctly (and it makes sense) it will hold a gear longer (into higher revs) before shifting up into the next gear, and will downshift a bit quicker before the engine revs drop much. Higher revs = a bit higher torque, but also a bit more fuel consumption.
I use tow/haul when I tow my 11,000 lb camper.

Different strokes for different folks. I NEVER use it. I hate the shifting. I pull a 6000 pound boat. Depending on wind, hills, speed I like to use S4 or S5.
I bought mt Doublecab limited in Sept 08. Towed a 5000 lb bumper pull up the Blue Ridge parkway and Skyline drive in October. I used the Tow/Haul Mode in those sttep hills and could feel it mostly on the down grade. I think it kept me from riding the brake as much with the feature call SHIFT LODGING, where it holds lower gears longer acceleration and locks in a lower gear while going down hill, like shifting down to 2nd in the older automatic trannys. I read about it and a lot of research went in to it so I have to think that there must be a benefit to musing it under load.
