Does it bother anyone else that the upper mirror on the right tow mirror isn't convex? It makes the field of view in it so small that I can't find a good place to adjust it, or even a use for it.

No.... a convex lens on a tow mirror would be counter productive. Thats why the bottom portion is convex, and not the top. YOu need an accurate representation on both sides.... a convex upper portion would make it essentially useless for towing. Get some non-towing mirrors if you dont tow that much..... or get used to it.

You're going to have to explain that one.
The field of view for it currently is so small that I haven't found a use for the upper portion when not towing, when towing my open trailer, or towing either one of the large closed trailers I tow that require the mirrors to be extended.
I'm open for suggestions as to how you adjust/use the upper portion.

i thought it would bug me and it did for the first week after installing mine. but after that, i like it. i agree it would be pointless to have both a convex mirror and a lower convex mirror. i think one thing thats important is the accuracy of the reflection. i for one, when backing a trailer real close to things, would rather have the an accurate reflection instead of the one that says its closer than it appears type of thing. i just wished they woudl have motorized the bottom part. for some reasn every time i get the truck washed and they dry it off they move. once i got mine set exactly i cant miss a thing behind me. and i towed an oversized trailer one day (kinda overloaded but had no better choice, was playscape for a friend of mine- stuck out both sides so i was over the width of a regular lane) and i just extended them out and it was amazing what all i could see.
but, having said that, someone should make a convex mirror replacement for those who want them.

I put the towing mirrors on a week ago and thought they have a great view, passenger and driver side both. The lower mirrors are great for backing in places for that "close view" of the sides. I never liked those "things are closer than" mirrors to start with....

Well I guess if it works for you guys. I've driven lots of large trucks with very large flat mirrors and it's ok, and towed lots of trailers with regular mirrors convex on the right and never had a problem backing up exactly into any spot. This is just my first small truck with a small flat mirror on the right and I don't like it. This isn't just a toyota thing, so no reason to get so "defensive." I've just towed lots of trailers large and small and know what I want to see in the mirror.
Just my preference that's all.

I did a little jaunt down to Tombstone today and I was looking at the passenger side mirror more than normal trying to see if there were blind areas .... nope! Suckers may stick out a mite and make it touch and go to park in the carport but I sure don't miss the passenger side being convex.

I appreciate the OP's point.
When the right side mirror is totally flat, you miss the wider field of view, and your head has to be in the same position to see what's happening along the right side of the truck and then you have to move your head forward to see a bit more to the side.
I'm happier having a pair of decent quality strap-ons (don't say ANYTHING Flash).
That way I get the inner mirror that gives a wide field of view, and a flat mirror stuck out further to see along and behind the trailer.

Anyone looking to trade the towing mirrors for the SR5 power and heated mirrors from my 2008 Tundra with only 15k miles. These are in mint condition and I would really like to get a set of the tow mirrors.
PM me if interested in the trade. I am located in houston and willing to ship the mirrors.
