Crawling around under the Tundra a couple of weeks back, I noticed 'new' looking circumferential scores in the drive shaft, right at the back of the 4" tubular section. I had a good feel around, just to make sure I hadn't snagged a bit of steel wire or something like that, but nothing there. Brought it up at the dealers when I went for service, the guy said he had seen it before.
When the TRD exhaust was installed, the clamp was orientated with the lugs horizontal, so has been rubbing the drive shaft when the bed is loaded!!!!! Luckily most of what I have in there is bulky rather than heavy!!!
The kicker is that I bought the truck from another dealer in another province with the exhaust already installed, so unless I can track down the original installer then I will have to stump up for new shaft. Dealer here has quoted CAD 1916 for the part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a related note, anyone know how thick the wall section is on these hollow shafts?

Thanks THank, got onto the Canadian equivalent site, but they have no maintenance history logged for my vehicle.... I will continue to chase through Club Toyota.

My local dealer had a shaft that they had pulled off a Tundra with the TRD exhaust for the same reason...it was almost worn completely through!...i'm guessing yours is not to safe.
Can you post a picture of the problem??? I have a TRD exhaust and been meaning to change it out. For instance give an excuse to the wife that I need a new exhaust....
Honestly, use this opportunity to put in a SERIOUS driveshaft with top quality universals from an drivetrain shop like Denny's Driveshaft Shop in WNY. You can get a SERIOUSLY overbuilt, custom balanced, lightweight shaft with better universals for way less money than the OEM replacement.
