Next, I would like to see what it would take to get CM rear seats in the rear of my DC...

Great write up... although I wonder if using a good hard steel would be safer than alloy... Or is that stainless?
[edit]you mentioned it was steel... looked alloy in the pics...

THe Bracket I used was something that we use in furniture construction of Cubical systems. HON Furniture manufactureing uses it to join work surfaces together and support them on cube walls. It fit the bill and I took it home from the office with me. It seems plenty strong. But then again, im not well versed on steel, vs allow etc etc.

ChitownTundra - I am super stoked about this mod and I am going to do it this weekend. I am 6'5" and yes have the same issues as all us tall guys, it's just not quite right, but the truck is so damn good I live with it.
Now I can have my sweet truck and fit in it too!

Im going to do it to my crewmax with power everything and will send any extra info I encounter after the work is done....
wish me luck

The one thing I stress is that you have to use button top bolts for the attachment, other wise you seat will not slide the full length and strike the seat slider. Basically you have 1/4 inch of height to work with.

I hope I stressed that in the write up.

Let us know how it goes!

ChiTown,

Couple questions - Why did you use such a large bit of angle (L)? I measured the seat mounting bracket/leg and it's only about 2" wide. Also, why didn't you just mount the seat frame rail directly to the angle bracket? What's the point of keeping that little piece of the original leg?

Good idea and I think I'll add this to my to-dos. Will probably use a different mount, but you've given me a good idea to start with. Gotta wait until it cools down some tho. Hate working outside on the vehicles when it's 110*.

I used a large piece because that is what I had around, also because I could not get a nice clean plastic cover over it like the stock one has I wanted it to cover the hole in the carpet to have a clean look. (I messed up one of them and made it too dam short to give me a clean look.)

I left the little foot piece on there for added stability and strength. It is welded on to the seat and also did not want to risk messing up the rail. IF you want to drop the seat another 1/4 inch you could take it off no problem! I could have done this cleaner im sure, but after trying to cut further into the little foot that was left, I decided I did not have the right tools and im leaving them.
