New Leer XQ100 slight issue if you are considering
First off...I love my new Leer cap. I am moving to North Dakota in November and with two English Mastiffs this is going to be the best way to travel. I am very happy with the craftsmanship and paint. The issue I wanted to make people considering purchasing one in the future is that as well as it fits, there is one rubbing issue. If it was only mine I wouldnt bring it up, but I have three other friends who have one type of Leer top or another and they all have the same problem. It must be a issue with the template they use. If you are aware of the problem, its an easy fix. The camper rubs on the back corner right above the tail lights. The more you drive, the more it rubs. And it starts removing paint. I have attached pics so hopefully you can see what i am talking about. Hopefully this saves others.
Chris
PS Excuse my sorry arrow in the last pic pointing to the area rubbing. I have a cast on my right arm and have to use my left for everything right now.

To be honest, I have no idea. Its like the opening for the back door is a little too wide. The other side is better. But I had mine installed at a different dealer than co-workers and they are both the same in the exact same area. But I think doing a little trimming will fix the issue. I am just one armed right now. I just wanted to make sure others check for this before they leave their leer dealer.

I have a Leer 100R and I noticed when I got home from having it installed that it looked as if it would rub in one place. I loosened the clamps and made a small adjustment to the position it was sitting on the bed rails ...... problem solved in aprox 5 mins. It was easier to do it myself than to take it back to the dealer.

I had one on on my dakota. I installed it (not a dealer) so I trilmmed that area myself while installing. It seems not all trucks are created equal so there is extra left there to create a proper fit after trimming... Just put a drop of the provided touchup on it after the trim and your good to go...

Thanks. I've been wanting one for a while now. Really liked the Snugtop but not available in my area. Im very happy. Gives the truck a tough look and has been great for hauling my giant dogs around. They drool alot. Its a mastiff thing.

I actually just got leer to finally agree to replace my top after almost 6 months of going back and forth with them. I bought a XLR in Feb and pulled it after driving to Alaska to find the paint wore off all the way round the top of my bed. Local leer dealer diagnosed it as being bowed in the middle causing it to touch the truck. They are regionly organized to I had to go thought the midwest rep (bought it in TX) to be relaid to the West coast rep and then take it to a local dealer. Honestly I will never buy another one of their products.
Re: New Leer XQ100 slight issue if you are considering
I just removed my cap because of the same problem with the back corner. Problem is, check the other four corners of your bed. I just pulled the cap off to fix that one corner and ALL FOUR CORNERS of the bed have been rubbed and chipped away. I've had the cap for 3 months and its already messed up the bed. This seems to be a problem other than just my Leer cap fit issues.
Chris 1976....definitely check your entire bed,,,better to find out now than when rust starts setting in. For the prices charged for the fiberglass molds,,,,these things should fit with NO RUBBING,,,,,

damn, those pics dont look fun
i just went outside to check my cap and it seems it might be touching in a few spots as well. looks like I can shim it or move it and all will be good, but wonder how bad its already gotten in the 1 month ive had it on.
Re: New Leer XQ100 slight issue if you are considering
The problem isnt so much the cap as it is the fact that the plastic bed rail caps compress and let the cap sit too low after a little time on them. I had to shim mine up in the corners a little bit with some pieces of ABS. I also did a little bit of cleaning up the two rear and drivers front corners on the inside of the cap with a file.
I have the 100xq BTW
