Default Banks Installed with DT Long tubes

I got a single out banks monster exhaust off ebay for only $375 shipped. The guy said it was too loud. I put it on today and with the long tubes it is loud in the cab. I was wondering what I can do about it? Maybe it will grow on me.

You could install a large bodied magnaflow in place of the banks muffler. You'll still have the exhaust flow but with much less noise.

The bigger (longer, wider, taller) the muffler the quieter it will be. The muffler on my Borla catback is 19" and it is perfect for me.

man i hate my banks on this truck. on my '04 it was awesome, so i paid nearly double for it for my '08, and i cant hear ANYTHING! im so pissed and the tip hung so low behind the rear tire it looked booty so i cut that sumbitch off right after the drop over the rear end. Now it looks decent, which is good since its silent...

I decided to take the tail pipe off. Now there is basically no DRONE, but you can still hear it. I like being able to hear it, not get a headache from it. I was wondering if I should extend the exhaust past the muffler? I just have it stopping after the muffler. Will extending it make a differance in power or sound?

Just extend it past the cab and you'll be set. I've been running my exhaust like this for a while now and love the sound. The only problem you might encounter with not having a tailpipe on your setup is the lack of cats - you'll get all the stink in the cab, especially if you have the rear window open (and fumigate your passengers as well). If you do have cats, you'll be ok without a tail pipe. Even adding only a turndown will make a substantial difference in sound for the better.

How long was the exhaust actually used? I have a Magnaflow system and it droned like hell when I first got it. I was not sure what I was going to do about it so I put up with it until I could figure something out. Then one day the drone just wasnt there. I have heard that it takes time for the sytem to break in. I thought that was total BS but I can say from personal experience that it is true. Maybe just leave it alone if it has not been used for very long and see if the same thing happens for you.

Sounds like it blew out some of the packing and/or got carboned up enough that it changed the resonant frequency of the exhaust, just enough that it avoided the drone "sweet spot".

I drove it to daytona last night and the drone is bad. It is not near as bad as with the tail pipe. If I put a short pipe with a turn down it will reduce the drone? What if I found something like a small powerstick or something like it to put inline with the banks? Just throwing ideas out there and seeing what you guys think.

Just get rid of the exhaust system if you can recoup some of the cost, then get them to cut up the stock exhaust. Seems like you don't care waht it looks like.

Heck, if you want my stock exhaust, I'll be in Atlanta pretty soon.
