Really sorry to hear this.. it was something i've been wondering about ever since the debut of the new Ram but i thought we were still safe with their 5spd and that rear end! - What scares me more is the fact that they dont have many mods out as of now.. not even a chip!!!

I think it was just the circumstances of the race. You mentioned you ran 60-90, 6o is below mid-range RPM on 3rd gear; i think if you raced from 40 (hi-end 2nd gear) or even better from a stand still, he wouldn't have stood a chance!!

Thats exactly what happened IMO as well, the Dodge got the jump and the Toyota
couldn't make up the ground in that gear/rpm range.
Ive run modded Hemi Dodges and pulled them real hard up to 70-80'ish.
Then they start reeling me in and by 100 or so their walking on out to a full truck or better.
Then again I never go in half cocked,I know my vehicle limits and sweet spots and make full use of such when the circumstances require "optimization"(you just never know)

All the mod's in the catalog will not a driver make. The run should have
never happened IMO,the results speak for them self.

I owned a 94 2500-360 4wd and worked the crap out of that thing and it took all the abuse. Then little things started breaking- handle when rolling up window-air conditioner-etc. and the straw that broke the camels back. The passenger side door opened on its own (and it was locked) while my daughters were in the truck. My 10yr old liked to freak out and almost fell out if it were'nt for the seat belt.

So the moral of this story is I shoulda kept racing him till he fell apart which sounds like is in his near future. I knew there was a secret to racing dodges. It was just a fast turd.

The pre- '95 Dodges were a lot worse body wise. I think a flock of ducks could fly in one door and out the other with the windows up in my '87 RamCharger. I drove the '95 and newer and the body integerity was a lot better.

Hate to bring it up on this thread BUT my 97 dodge 165k I traded(seats falling apart, dash broke in at least 50 pieces,200+dents,3major wrecks, shakey front end, broke ac,headliner held up by coathanger, slopy steering, paint job blasted off by Katrina been through all kinda flood water) still had plenty life left in her. IT wuz just time to let her go, needed 4 door(08 dblcb) for huricane evacuations anyway. If ya wuz gona wait for her to quit running though youd be waiting a while. 03 frontier for work, hate truck luv AC,Tundra for huricanes & getting grocery's. Bought tundra 1 year ago today 7/04/08 4100 miles can't wait for tundra to get old so I can start trashing it, course say what ya want probably be waiting a while cause those gen 1 frontiers are tough also(plenty in work parking lot with 250,000+ miles on em).

Corse havn't done a lot of drag racen lately, but back in the day, don't jump on it if the other guy's in the sweet spot & your not, just play around till ya feel thangs are a little more even, couse if he's chipped modded & got juice bottle forget it esp. if your stock. It is what it is.

If that dodge was stock, there's something wrong with your truck or the combination of mods you have are seriously hurting performance. I have the same truck you do and I can easily eat up anything but SRT10s and hang with a trailblazer SS. I've done stop watch verified 0-60 runs of 5 seconds flat with my truck. There's no way that truck didn't have a power adder on it (i.e. laughing gas, etc). You have to think about this for a minute - the dodge you ran has just a wink more (advertised) power, but it's soooooo much heavier than your truck, probably by more than 1000 lbs not including the payload. It just doesn't add up.

This truck was off like a rocket I had a srt10 single cab 6spd beat me before and it didn't move like that, and I knew the srt had me before we started I just wanted to see how close. Ain't nothin wrong with my truck it's runnin fine I'm not all butt hurt about it after adding it up. I shoulda been suspicious when they pulled up snickering and revving the motor with a bed full of coolers and crap and a cab full of people. I'm definitely impressed by whatever he had going on under the hood. He definitely lrft me guessing what he had done to it.

But, You guys talk like I have 35" tires on my truck robbing my power. 265 bridgestone duelers can't hold asphalt, the truck hooks up better with 305s. I haven't added any weight other than the drop spindles but they were probly 10 lbs heavier than stock adding a little unsprung weight. The 18" alloys and duelers were heavier than what I got now and they were 3/4" taller. I did that on purpose because of the 4.10 rear end.
